The list of holes going into 2021 is a lot shorter than 3 weeks ago

Assuming Dak and the OL all come back healthy next year, the list of huge holes on this team is a lot shorter than we previously thought.

I really only see 3 MUST fills

1) CB opposite Diggs. - Brown can be in nickel and be servicable.

2) X Woods - Wilson has brought value to the opposite safety spot so we only need to fill one

3) Jaylons role - He’s not going to be cut and there’s probably a way to make him have a decent role like using him as a human missile on passing downs. But it would be nice to have someone equal to LVE playing next to him.

So while yes it would be nice to have a top 10 pick, seeing players on the roster develop is better than being in a spot to take rookies that will need time to develop also.

Jerry just loves you soooooo much.

The biggest issue with the team is still there along with several small issues. We aren't doing much in the playoffs (ever) as long as the Jones Boys are around.

No. Don’t be fooled. Just because their play has “elevated” doesn’t mean this team doesn’t need a small rebuild. What you’re seeing is the Dallas effect.

Dallas Effect
(dăl′əs əˈfekt)
Noun
When the team starts playing well only because they know they’re jobs are on the lines. They know if they play good for at least 1-2 games, the senile Jerry Jones will keep him and will be convinced that said player is “good”. Due to the team’s usual mediocrity, when Dallas seemingly plays “better”, fans overreact and begin to think they are “good” and “have less holes to fill” when the opposite is what is indeed true.

Totally disagree. The list of holes this team has are still many. One quick example- Safety. Donovan Wilson had an excellent game last night. We still don’t know if he’s a long term solution at S.

One good game does not change needs.

And a run stuffing DT and LT of the future. I agree with the OP, but we also shouldn’t start trumpeting playoffs! Truth lies somewhere in the middle.

-I agree needing another starting caliber CB and Safety and probably some veteran depth.
-Although the run defense has improved, they still aren't good enough. Need to upgrade the DL interior, add another linebacker.

Fewer needs? I don’t see that.

We need another DT, a safety, a couple CBs since Brown and Diggs are the only guys signed. We also need another LB. after that, I’d say 1 OL. The only positions I feel better about are C and TE.

Unless we can resign Aldon Smith, we will also need another DE.

Eh, don't get sucked in like the FO usualy does thinking they landed a keeper over 2-3 weeks of decent play.
Wilson has brought something the last 3 weeks we haven’t seen in years - multiple turnovers. That’s not just decent play.

Don’t get me wrong, the team still will have small holes but everyone does. Look at the 10-0 Steelers. They can’t run the ball lately.

But those aren’t huge holes like there are now in the back 7. You can’t win in the playoffs with the CBs play from Awuzie and Lewis and terrible safety play Woods brings.

There are way more than 3 holes on this team.

If the need list is shorter than it was 3 weeks ago that means the list 3 weeks ago was too short.
There’s a difference between hole and needs an upgrade. Hole means you don’t have even average NFL play.

The DTs are giving you at least average NFL play lately. Could they use an upgrade? Yes but they can hold their own and Gallimore/Hill are likely to keep improving for at least the next 1-2 years. Woods probably is what he is. He’s solid and makes some nice plays. Not going to be Gilbert Brown from the 90s.

LG: Connor Williams is not a pro bowler but he fights to a draw most times. He isn’t Chaz Green or Terrence Steele bad.

RE: Would like to be able to have a guy that can be more reliable than Aldon/Gregory but that’s what they want to go with and they’re producing for now.

I've been pleasantly surprised with Hamilton and Gallimore's play. not dominant but solid with some disruptive plays in there for young unheralded guys. those 2 and woods are solid. hope hill keeps developing to join that rotation but i wouldn't mind another vet in FA or dt in the draft.

How can you not mention the DTs? Those are massive holes.

Woods and Gallimore have been solid. They aren’t massive holes. They’re not pro bowlers but Gallimore is a rookie and not many 1T are going to make more splash plays than Woods.

I hate to inform you that outside something extremely unlikely happening, the Jones family will own and run the Dallas Cowboys for the rest of our lives.

So while I do not really disagree with your comment above, the fact of the matter is the Jones family is not going anywhere no matter how much we all would wish they all would just go away.

If you cannot live with that fact, then maybe you should look for another team to support. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be rude or mean. There are a LOT of things that can and will change for the Dallas Cowboys in the future, but complaining about the ONE THING that will not is not healthy or helpful.
