Beasley should have been retained

Zeke had almost double the amount of receptions as Singletary, tell me again how Singletary is a better pass catcher?

Brown isnt better than Gallup, not by a long shot. They were comparable in 2019, but just about any GM would take Gallup over Brown without thinking twice.

Zeke's career high receiving grade is 69.0 according to PFF lmao.

That's his HIGH!

Being impressed with being able to handle little dump passes and designed screens is one of the more odd things on this forum.

unreal how many fans around here and other places are living in the moment and want to Omit this season was lost mainly due to massive Injuries..and judging our 3rd string team weve been fielding as who we actually are.. man wake up fans, we were very unlucky in the health department and using practice squad players as starters.. FACTS, this isnt our TEAM we are losing with..

You can go strictly with 2019 and R. Cobb then. You can also look at what both Gallup and Coop accomplished. I dont believe it was a mistake to let Beasley go when they did. Our wrs corps rebuild was actually done very well. We struggled half way into 2018, and then got Coop and the offense took off.

True, but then again Beasley, being the slot guy, without a good no. 1 receiver (Gallup wasn't one at the time), he wouldn't be as effective.

I still think, sitting in 2019, based on what the Cowboys had, Beasley would have been worth signing....

Off the top of my head Witten wasn't happy with him.

Not so much complaining, but more like if you dont want to be here then go, we dont need you anyway.
Meh. A 20 year old kid broke up with his girlfriend and thought it was the end, I don't remember it creating any waves.

He made a dumb choice, like many of us have done at that age.

I actually don't disagree to be honest, but I dont regret it either ONLY because of where we ended up at WR. Cole was worth the money. He had proven that. Im not a Beasley hater, just not regretting letting him walk. I understand the logic.

Beasley is a good player but was a bad fit for us at that point.

Provides no blocking. Poor deep threat. Not a thread wide. No run threat for jet sweeps. Requires crisp execution from the QB.

Should have been on a pass first team going 3 wide in its base with a QB who could execute as fast as he could to get the full value out of him.

I think Brady would have loved him.

Beasley didn't bring a lot that we needed, and we didn't have what it would take to make the most of him.
We just were deeper in talent at WR and had to pay them instead of Besser.

It was all about the money and the ball will go to the higher paid players to justify their pay.

This is common in any sport.

Bease is a complimentary player.

Pure and simple.

Nothing wrong with that.

Ask Pete Gent..ask Alvin Harper..ask Tony Hill.

They made what they could out of their opportunity.

Yeah, but when a guy like Lamb falls in your lap like that....you take him... and watch the Eagles cry as an added bonus.
AGREED!

I was gonna add WR was not a priority for us just because we lost Bease....but you take the gift. I wanted to stay on my point.

We did a poor job with some other defensive moves to pick up that slack.

The offense hasn't been as good as what their stats suggest. A lot of slow starts and Beasley could have helped with that by picking up very much needed first downs. He does it all the time.

And letting him walk didn't help the front office sign anyone either because they still suck. If not worse.

Cowboys do not have an OL due to injury, you can't put backups across the OL and think they can hold up. It is one thing losing 1 player on the OL since you can give him help but when the entire OL is banged up and left to 2nd and 3rd string players you can't offer much help. As for Beasley I like him, always have but Beasley would not make any difference and you bet I would take Cooper, Gallup and Ceedee over Beasley any day of the week.

actually that wasn't my argument, I was simply asking how a guy with lesser stats is blowing a more proven player on a better team with better stats "out of the water" Your words...lamb is blowing him out of the water already which is not remotely true. I imagine you havent seen the bills play a single time and just hype anything associated with the cowboys up.

now if you want to have a conversation about lamb I am here for that too. I have not seen the explosiveness he is said to have. His focus seems to drift and I am concerned what happens to him when he has to lineup outside in the future against big corners.

If we are being fair. Lamb is a rookie.

He is likely going to continue getting better over the next few seasons and isn’t at his peak performance right now.

no knock on Beasley either. I loved Beasley. My wife still has one of his jerseys.

Beasely had 15 catches for 128 yards and 0 TDs his rookie season..

and this has relevance to what? I must have missed where the comparisons of rookie seasons was stated.

What I saw and responded to was Lamb is ALREADY BLOWING BEASLEY OUT OF THE WATER THIS YEAR.

that statement is not remotely true and like I said earlier I imagine the person who said it has not seen buffalo more than once this year.

How was he "definitely better" when Gallup had less targets and more yards? Brown was also on his 5th or 6th year in the league and Gallup his second. Gallup > Brown.

1. How many years a player is in the league has nothing to do with how good they are. That straw grasp doesn't make any sense lol.

2. Dak 8.4 yards per attempt(quality of a target on average), Josh Allen 6.7 yards per attempt.

Any more questions?

you don't have to have a gun, you just need accuracy and anticipation.

Exactly. I've argued before that the passing game is about more than just "catch-able". You could laser beam a pass into the chest...but that doesn't mean it was a good throw. "anticipation" of all the variables involved is a great descriptor!

if you're comparing rookie stats to a 8-9 year vet, he's doing a lot better.

Are you another person that thinks Dak and Allen are comparable players?

Save yourself the trouble. Allen is better at everything than Dak and is getting better each week. He is one of the most rare skillsets the league has ever seen. He is some odd combo of Newton-jackson-rivers.

Dak is a good player who reached his ceiling years ago. Allen is going to be in the discussion of best players in the league for a long time.

It didn't make waves, it wasn't controversial or any of the like. Simply stating there were players that gave him hell for a bit until he won them over. My whole point was he quit and we stayed with him and helped him build a career. So as upset as he might of been with how things went in Dallas the organization helped to make him.

Comparing a rookie WR to a 9 year vet WR is really futile. If you can't see the difference in talent level between Cee Dee and Beasley, then there's really not much to say.

Looking a little deeper into their numbers, they are not all that dissimilar at this point. Beasley leads in catches 66-53, targets 82-81 and yards 797-650. Both have 4 TD's
Average depth of target, Cee Dee leads 9.2 yds to 7.9 yds, so he's running deeper routes, which are less likely to be caught.
Cee Dee has 6 drops on the year (3 in the first Wash game, which was by far his worst game) and Beasley has 2.
QB rating when throwning to Beasley is 118.3, Lamb is 101.4.

Beasley has played one more game than Lamb and Lamb has played with 4 different QB's, Beasley with 1. Let's see what happens tonight and see what the stats look like after they both have 12 games. Personally, I think CeeDee has hit a bit of a rookie wall, but he will be even better next year.

In the situation you described, it's tailor made for a Beasley. He was always good at getting open, that's a good thing if your o-line isn't that great. Not saying Lamb isn't, or that Lamb doesn't have more ability and/or a higher ceiling, it's just that IF the Cowboys had retained Beasley it's not like it would have been wasted money, he did have skills and usefulness. Just a matter of degree, not a black and white matter...
