Yeah cause Aaron Rodgers didn’t work out. If a stud qb is there you don’t pass, even if you have Brett Favre.
Not really a realistic point. Favre was at the end of his career, Prescott has continued to improve year after year. We don't need one. We need defenders.

And again, no one knows there is a "stud" in the draft at QB.

Not this season, this season when Prescott started we did not have "slow starts" on a consistent basis. So, the "garbage time" idea isn't accurate.

Im a Dak fan but we did start slow earlier this season.

I told you guys that there was a pretty good chance that Hurts would start over Wentz and beat him out for the QB job there. It hasn’t set in concrete yet, but the opportunity is there.

If Philly gets an improvement at QB in the second round and cuts Wentz loose their cap woes suddenly look a little bit better.

So youre arguing that 8-8 is fine as long as Dak gets to play QB?
Nope, try again. I'm suggesting that with Prescott at QB, we will win more games than any of the back ups have done combined. This season. Last season is over.

Yep thats true, and its true that Dak is the best qb on the roster...also true is we still had a losing record with Dak.

With worst defense and absolute and historically bad special teams. Team sport, had less to do with Prescott.

It makes sense cap-wise.

Let's take Justin Herbert for example. He was drafted 6th and had a first year cap hit of $ $4,832,501. Dak's expected cap hit for 2021 is north of $38M. That's a difference of $33.1M you could then spend on fixing the defense.

Two huge issues though.

1. You are counting on the Jerry Jones brain trust to identify a QB at pick 4, 5, 6 that is good enough and produce similarly to Burrow, Herbert, Tua.

2. You are counting on the same brain trust, who has been dog poop awful at identifying free agents the past several years, to aggressively identify and sign quality players that will improve the defense.

Now Troy has said he likes what he has seen in Dak. He has said this several times.

However, last night he said, if you are in position to take one of the QB's at the top of the draft, you must do so. And I can't disagree.

Did anyone else hear this?
What do you all think about it?

I know many will agree, as some will disagree with this statement.

I stated several times, you have to consider it, no way you can not discard this theory.
Yo have a QB that is good to very good, but just seems to be missing something at times. I felt the same about Tony Romo.

So Dak on the verge of being tagged at $37 million or set to make $35 to $40 million a year. Now I won't get into the salary cap ramifications on that, but understand the thinking from many fans about it.
So a franchise QB is there, you get at a 5 year far less impact on the cap.

Can this QB do right away what Dak will do when he returns healthy from his injury. But yet still the same issues, no defense. Though I think a new DC will be better than a 3rd pick overall on defense.

What are your thoughts as of this morning.
Right now, as usual, I will wait until the end of the season, see where we pick. I do like Dak, but I am leaning very much too selecting a QB.
Jimmy Johnson said the same thing about selecting a top notch QB if there during the draft during the pre game show...
You Arlington Jonesboys fans keep living in fantasy land.

Jimmy Johnson, Bob Ackles, John Wooten, Gil Brandt, and Bill Parcells are not making personnel decisions for the Dallas Cowboys. Jerry Dumbo GM Jones will give you just what you have been getting for 26 year. If he drafts a QB in the 1st round, it will be the wrong QB (see Paxton Lynch). If he trades the pick it will be for the wrong player (see Roy Williams WR, and Joey Galloway WR). If he needs defense, he will draft offense (see the 1995 Draft and Derrick Brooks). If he needs offense, he will draft defense (see Randy Moss vs. Greg Ellis).

Please just stop doing the same thing looking for different results.

IMO, due to the terrible contracts to Tank, Zeke and Jaylon plus an aging offensive line, the team is years away from seriously competing. Keeping Dak around for a massive amount of money doesn't accomplish much other than worsening your draft position. The Cowboys might be the worst team in the NFL right now but let's not forget that they were a fluke onsides from being bad with Dak and they stunk the joint up for the latter half of last year.

There is a logical reason to just take a top QB and then burn the rest of the team down. By the time the terrible contracts are off the books, you would be in a good position to jump up and compete.

The cowboys are in a bad position right now. The faster the team recognizes that and starts trying to take long term steps to improve, the less time it will take to get to the other side of this particular valley.

If the Cowboys can get Dak on a long term cheap deal than that's great. Its one piece of the puzzle for 2023 or so when the team can compete. If Dak wants 4 years $160m or so, I really don't see the point. He would be a free agent asking for $60m per year when the team was starting to sniff being competitive the next time.

I would absolutely love to see Aikman get a shot at being the GM. You can tell he's completely disgusted with the entire organization and the lack of effort by the players.

Mahomes also had a ready-made team. They had a GREAT offense before and an acceptable defense. THAT is what it takes for a young QB to succeed. Right now Dallas about 7 new starters on defense to be passable and probably 1-2 on offense as well.
Offense is stacked. Yah defense needs 7 new starters and 3 pro bowl caliber types.

We have an absolute STUD at QB already. If the last 7 games haven't proven that to this fanbase...nothing will.

Here is a novel concept...lets go heavy on the Defense. That is what we need.
We don’t have a QB except Dinucci signed for next year.
