There was no reason to hire him other than paying back a favor from the 90s. He was awful the last time he was DC, and that was 5 years ago. Coaches don't generally get better after long absences after being as bad as he was with the Falcons.

I think this is 100% him admitting they dropped the ball in FA with the defensive signings and wishing they could do that over. I'll believe he's ready to can Nolan when it happens. If it hasn't happened yet, regardless of how historically bad they've been, there is no reason to expect it will.

I don't like the scheme, our personnel doesn't fit 34 but as long as you have McCarthy, I'm guessing that this is what we are going to see. So really, we have a pretty good personnel problem here. Our personnel doesn't fit the 34.

I think he is talking about scheme. Should have stayed with the same 4-3 (1 gap ) upfield scheme as last year. Then make minor changes until the new scheme could be fully implemented next season. You had to let your new HC bring in his guy for DC ,, but it's been a train wreck with no progress. So I would fire Nolan but he probably will get a pass

If I was jerrry I’d boot Nolan and McCarthy, then hire the new coach and let him interview Moore to decide if he wants to keep him or interview new ocs

Make an example of a few players too and get people on edge...only way things will change

If Jerry was "all-in" on winning, as he claims to be every year, he would have never allowed Nolan to be hired in the first place. Nor would he have hired Fat Mike, or kept Garrett for a decade, and so on and so on.

I would expect that to mean Nolan and the scheme.

Jerry wouldn't fire Nolan midseason because the NFL is an old boys club and Nolan is one of them, so he stays in for the entire season under the guise of 'respect'. But there is no way Nolan and this scheme he has personally brought in remain for 2021. No way you can justify this poor a defense when not much has changed, in terms of personnel
