Now that Mike Nolan is a lock to be fired at the end of the year the Cowboys need to go in one direction and one direction only when it comes to defensive coordinator and that's Sean Lee. Lee is seeing less and less playing time and now would be a great time to retire and take over the defensive coordinator duties. Now I know there will be plenty of people that will say that I'm crazy or that Lee isn't ready and all that garbage but when have we've seen a guy with Lee's intellect, work ethic, and ability to break down film. Lee is so smart that he has even changed the D-coordinator's calls because he knew it wasn't the right defense for that situation. If I was Jerry Jones I would bring Lee into my office and tell him that it's time to retire but now you're going to be my new defensive coordinator and promise him that's we're going to do everything we can to bring guys in through either the draft and or free agency to help rebuild that defense.

I love Sean Lee, he's smart, a true leader and a great player when healthy but I certainly wouldn't hire him as the defensive coordinator at this time, when he retires, I think Lee should be hired somewhere as a linebacker coach and then work his way up the ranks to defensive coordinator..

As far as a defensive coordinator, I want a 4-3 coordinator since this team has 4-3 personnel, sick of the 3-4 defense..so NO I don't want Wade Phillips back!

i wouldn't mind him being a def asst.
but not D.C.
if we're gonna do that...i'd rather just give Leon Lett a shot at it.
i don't expect Nolan to be fired...but re-assigned to his old spot...LBs.
George Edwards probably gets the bump to DC...if McCarthy keeps it in house.
he could easily make an outside hire for DC and just re-position Nolan.
that wouldn't really up-set me.
i don't think anyone should be fired having NOT had an off-season...even despite the failures on defense.
this was an abnormal year...i'd give folks a chance to fix things with a real off-season.
i absolutely believe there should be some shuffling or re-positioning on the staff, tho.

I think SL would make a great DC, but not yet. That is a very tough job and requires a lot of coaching experience to be good at it. Let Lee be a LB Coach first. Going from a roster to a DC is too fast a jump. There’s a reason coordinators aren’t hired without much experience. Unless you’re Kellen Moore and with that point, I rest my case, lol.

Maybe an assistant Lb’s coach yes but DC hold your horses. Unless McCarthy gives him the Witten treatment where he told him he’d have to start from the bottom.

Would definitely have to start at the bottom. The guy may be good at breaking down film, but can he actually coach? Nobody knows, so to start him as the DC would be a disaster.

You know who had a TON of experience when he got hired Mike Nolan, you know who SUCKS as a D-coordinator Mike Nolan! Don't give me that we need a coach with experience BS because Lee has enough game experience to know how to run the show. Lee knows the players and he knows the 4-3 defense Lee is the ideal pick in the perfect situation give the guy a shot!
