Moore went from backup QB to OC in 2 years. Dont ever underestimate Jerry.
Right, so he had an entire year of coaching before he became the OC. He was basically just a QB coach when he was on the roster too.

If you told me Lee was going to be the LB coach next year, and then become DC, I'd say fine. That's not what we're talking about though.

Lee has been with this team since 2010 and this so called "coach on the field" "Film room guru" hasn't lead this defense to nothing but 8-8 seasons. No thanks for overrated pile jumpers whose continuously hurt year in and year out. Being held in such high regard from Lee fanboys, you would think Lee would share this intellect in the film room with teammates during film sessions, since he's constantly on the sidelines on gameday with a front row seat to all the action.

And Romo as the offensive coordinator. He's a great announcer. He'd be kicking it as an offensive coordinator even more. BOOM!

Because a player can do doesn't mean he can't teach others. Look at the number of coaches in the NFL. How many are ex NFL players and how many are successful?

This is like the radio industry that I was in, the top salesperson was usually in line for the sales manager's job with the only qualification being the top salesperson and they were often concerned about losing them.

Coaching and playing, even being a leader, are two different jobs with differing requirements.

This is the problem. People, in general, have no idea what it takes to be a good Coach. I mean, a lot of times, you can ask a Coach what makes other Coaches good and they can't tell you a lot of times. It's because it's things learned along the way. It's losing hard games because of calls or adjustments or just not seeing things that make the difference between winning or losing, along the way. You don't just come out of the shut as a great Coach. There is much more to it then that. I do believe Lee could be a good Coach, eventually, if certain things went right but it doesn't mean that he is one right now. Most of you have no idea what it takes to be a great Coach. Why do players not become great HCs, most of the time? Players, as great as they might be, are spoiled. They work, but they don't work like Coaches do. Most players are blessed with God given talent, ability, skills. They don't have to work as hard to get where they are because they are blessed from the jump with a huge advantage over 99% of the people on the face of the earth. Coaches, that's different. There are no built in advantages to Coaching, such as athleticism etc. It's all about how hard you work, how you can learn, how you can apply what you learn, the experience you pick up along the way, how you can interact with other players and your own staff, thousands of little things just like this along the way. It's all work and that's why Players often don't make great Coaches. It's a lot easier to become a great player if you have the talent from the start. Coaching, there are no easy roads to greatness. You can't wish a Coach to greatness just because you want him to be great. You gotta put in the time.

I agree with your position Coach.

This one however seems different to me. I've never called for a Cowboy's player to go into a coaching position like a coordinator or head coach the day he retired not Romo not Witten no one but Lee is an absolute genius and can break down film like no other Cowboy's player. Lee has been the defacto D-coordinator this entire season and there have been times that he coached the coaches.

Now that Mike Nolan is a lock to be fired at the end of the year the Cowboys need to go in one direction and one direction only when it comes to defensive coordinator and that's Sean Lee. Lee is seeing less and less playing time and now would be a great time to retire and take over the defensive coordinator duties. Now I know there will be plenty of people that will say that I'm crazy or that Lee isn't ready and all that garbage but when have we've seen a guy with Lee's intellect, work ethic, and ability to break down film. Lee is so smart that he has even changed the D-coordinator's calls because he knew it wasn't the right defense for that situation. If I was Jerry Jones I would bring Lee into my office and tell him that it's time to retire but now you're going to be my new defensive coordinator and promise him that's we're going to do everything we can to bring guys in through either the draft and or free agency to help rebuild that defense.
Have to pay your dues first. And just because your a smart player wont make you a good coach. Maybe LB coach perhaps but not DC

He’s been able to be a coach the last few years when he’s missed time. Hasn’t helped Jaylon much.

Stop anointing people.

Will be a good coach one day.

Let him earn it.

Kellen Moore was actually done a disservice getting OC duties here.

Normally I would agree that prior experience at a lower level is necessary to be successful, but we just witnessed a dude getting a high level job and performed well enough to reverse the prior trends and bring unparalleled prosperity to the people he worked for....

Man...y'all overhype Sean Lee...always have. He's like the Jason Witten of defense....he's out there with these guys right now...you think he's not coaching these guys as much as he can? Lee himself is a part of the problem too.

While you two meatheads were jocking it up, I was up in the stands playing grabbutt with your girlfriends.
Yup the stands, that's where all the non athletes sat to watch the games and you weren't playing "grabbutt" with my girl because she was a cheerleader who was on the sidelines.

I actually was our mascot as a Sr and on the field so don't be so sure. I got injured as a Jr and that ended any hopes of a scholarship or anything beyond that time.

No. He needs to start as a QC coach. And tbh I think that's how he would want to do it too....

Before or after the transition?
