Report: Carson Wentz wants Eagles to trade him if Jaylon Hurts continues to start

The season isn’t even over yet, but it’s already obvious that the Philadelphia Eagles are going to have an offseason filled with high drama.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Sunday that quarterback Carson Wentz is not happy with being bumped from his starting role in favor of Jalen Hurts, and would want to “move on” from the team if that continues.

Drama in Philly?
According to Schefter, Wentz, 27, isn’t interested in being Hurts’ backup and would want the Eagles to trade him if that’s their plan for him going forward. He is also reportedly “not pleased with the way events have unfolded in the organization.”

Wentz, who had been struggling for pretty much the entire season, was finally benched during the Eagles’ Week 13 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Hurts started against New Orleans Saints the following week and led the Eagles to an upset win. Hurts was then named starter for Week 15, and while head coach Doug Pederson hasn’t publicly said that Hurts will start the rest of the season, that’s reportedly the plan.

To add to Schefter’s report, ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky reported last week that “a lot of people feel that Carson Wentz feels betrayed” by how things have gone down this season, and there’s a lot of “animosity” built up between him and the Eagles. Orlovsky also reported that Wentz misses former offensive coordinator and current Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich, not just as a coach but as a human being.

If i were the Eagles I'd trade him. It's a huge cap hit but some team might actually give a draft pick thinking they can fix him.

I think if Eagles win today (I think they will), the Week 17 game against WAS will be flexed to Sunday night and the win the East at 7-8-1. Crazy.

As far as Wentz, its tricky, though there are a few teams that would be interested. I actually think he would be a good fit in PIT, but big Ben has one more contract year. IND is another one with Rivers likely retiring.

Boo hoo. Someone needs to tell Wentz this is not little league football where everyone gets a trophy. He needs to grow a pair and win his job back. Also since it is Philly someone needs to show him the clip from the last Rocky movie where Sly is talking to his son telling him the world is not all sunshine and roses. It is a very mean and cruel place that will beat you down if you let it. Nobody is going to hit as hard as life. But it’s not as hard you can hit but how hard you can take the hits and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done. Now if you know how much your worth than go out and get what your worth but you have to be willing to take the hits and not point fingers at him or her or anybody because you are not where want to be. Cowards do that and that is not you. Your better than that. Apparently Wentz is not though.

No SNF in the final week of the season and there's usually a ton of early games and a division playing in the later games. They got smart about limiting the meaningless games later.

I just looked it up and the NFC W plays the late games and I don't know if that was the plan or they already flexed them to add drama to this games because 3 of the 4 could be fighting for a playoff spot. It worked out really well for that final Sunday of the regular season.

Wentz to the Colts makes a lot of sense.

But I don't know how the Eagles deal with the dead cap number
If they can trade him, what's the hit on their cap? Versus unrest in the locker room? For him to go public now might just piss Lurie off enough to take the hit.
