Haskins still thought he was the big man on campus upon arrival to the NFL. We have seen this movie before. Not sure he is good enough to be a productive starter even with his head on straight.

You were correct. At least the powers to be did not put you under house arrest like Galileo after he said the earth was not the center of the universe.:) It is actually a nice feeling to have been blasted for something eventually proven true. Unfortunately, the Eagles had the same hunch as you. Eagles get last laugh.

So many (including myself) laughed at the Eagles for drafting Hurts in the 2nd and many others (not me) praised the Dolphins for drafting Tua at 5, even before Herbert, who might be as good or better than Burrow when all is said and done.
My wife's whole family are eagles fans. They were all salty about hurts being picked. I told them if wentz gets injured this year he could mess around and lose his job. They told me I was a dumb cowboys fan. lol.

This dude was NEVER good! I felt that way when the Commanders used their 15th pick in the 2019 draft, I thought god was looking down on the Cowboys when Snyder put in his 2 cents and drafted this bum. Unfortunately we have the same type owner who thinks he knows EVERYTHING about drafting a winner. This just goes to show that when owners get involved in the drafting process all bets are off....................

Why would we sign one of the best QBs in the league, who is only 27 years old, when we could just draft a QB?
Apple's to orange's. It was known going into the 2019 draft Haskins was a clown who has benefited from nepotism. That never stopped once Synder drafted him.

You have to take it on a case by case basis and this if you have one don't draft one mentality is ridiculous.

I don't really trust this front office to get anything done competently and Dak fell in their lap. I would be okay with resigning him simply because I know that I have in him and the Jones can't screw up the pick. It would take to move on..

The funny part about that is the coaches that are coaching for a job make players worse and get themselves fired. Look at farve's situation with the falcons.

A lot of times, yeah. But the reverse can also happen. I mean, remember, Jimmy didn't buy into Aikman. Aikman was flat out the best QB, best player in the 89 draft and Jimmy rewarded him with a trade for Walsh, threw his butt to the wolves, literally, and tested him at every turn. Jimmy never bought into Aikman until Troy proved himself under fire. Only then did Jimmy get behind Troy and honestly, how much we don't really know to this day. I mean, he did leave. But end of day, Johnson did the exact same thing and he was successful with it.

Farve's situation was different to me. It's interesting because he was really a situation where circumstances, more then anything, drove his trade. So in 91, Glanville was in the 2nd year of a 4 year deal, I believe. He's got a decent team going on in Atlanta and they already have Chris Miller, who was himself a 1st round pick and a pretty talented player himself. He knows that Miller is his guy and that Favre is never going to get any playing time in Atlanta. Miller is only going into his 4th year, I believe, at that point so he's also young. Favre is a 2nd round pick but Holmgren and Ron Wolfe see something in Favre. They see a small school kid, who can throw into NFL windows from all angles and who has mobility. He can also throw it throw hurricane force winds so they offer a 1st. Glanville is trying to build a championship so he figures go on ahead and make the trade. Farve, to me, is exactly the type of story that illustrates Coaches and QBs and how you evaluate talent in the NFL correctly. I am not a huge Favre fan, threw too many INTs for me but, his talent was undeniable and his ability to make NFL throws was also undeniable. He's the kid you look for to take high and develop.

So, what i'm hearing is he was not receptive to learning at this level. He does have a good arm.

I don't know that he has a good arm or not. I guess it depends on what you consider a good arm. Can he throw the football hard and far? Yeah, he can do that. Can he throw it into an NFL window, lead receivers, read defenses, drop it in over the LBs but in front of the Safety, make the hot read and make the accurate throw on a dime against the blitz or on the run, no. He can't do that as well as the really good QBs so if that's also a part of having a good arm, then no, he doesn't have one. See, this is the thing, it's more then just how hard or how far you can throw it. It's a lot more and this is the problem with a lot of guys who play QB at really big time schools. They don't learn the stuff you get when you have to make it happen at programs who don't have elite talent at every position.

Nothing is a sure thing, but they probably have a higher ceiling than a 4th rounder who hit his ceiling his rookie year and all the sudden thinks he's deserving of the most money in NFL history.
Not all of the sudden. And he's not asking for the most money in NFL history. But whatever he gets it's because he's earned it.

Wowzers.

There must have been a lot going on behind the scenes with Haskins in terms of maturity and responsibility that I imagine we’ll start hearing about.
There was. First I heard was him bragging about his stats after a loss. The guy just doesn't get it. was smart to remove the cancer.

Genuine oversight I hope. If not....poor taste make a pun like that.

It's a guaranteed contract he's still getting paid without going to work lol.
Nah I got you....

It's the guaranteed money set for life thing vs the idea of maybe being more successful as a long term NFL QB.

Its interesting really and we will never know.

But yeah man gotta be careful about the individual you're dealing with because theoretically any high pick rookie could just mail it in and still be set for life due to the guaranteed money. If Haskins is smart with his cash on hand he wont ever have to play or work again.

I have been saying the same thing on Tua before the draft. Tua is Haskins without the baggage and with a little better arm.

I do think the current AL QB Mac Jones might be pretty good even though he is surrounded by an abundance of talent at AL. Seems like a high floor-low ceiling player. Bus driver type of QB. Maybe a Vinny Testeverde type of QB. Same with FL Trask. Both Jones and Trask are QBs Parcells could win with in my opinion.

Oh yeah, the talent for all of these guys is there, coming out of HS. I mean, they don't get an offer from Bama or OSU if they aren't among the most physically gifted coming out of HS. The problem is the development, a lot of times, along the way.

Good observation with Jones and Trask BTW, I agree. Parcells could have made those two work but then again, Parcells would have made a lot of QBs work, they just wouldn't have like it very much.
