Adam Schefter: Wentz will ask to be traded

Unless there is some underlying injury that I’m not aware of I think he will have a huge bounce back and some team is about to get very lucky.

Eagles were an absolute mess this year on the offensive side of the ball and I could imagine the mountain of excuses some QBs would receive if they were in that situation.

He’s going to need the right kind of coach to fix him. Indy makes the most sense. Maybe Chicago to pair with his old QB coach.

Philly would have to eat $25M in dead money (Base salary for 2021 is $34.6M with $59M in dead money) so not sure how they could move on from him after this season.

There is a theory floating that if Wentz wants out bad enough, he could repay some of his bonus/futures guarantees to lower the cap hit for Philly to make it easier to move.

I have no idea how likely that would be, I would guess not very.

I suspect that Indy is the best spot. If some how we can't manage to keep Dak, I think Dak will be heading to Chicago.

It’s being reported Wentz will be inactive today against Washington.

There is no shot he’s back now.

I can’t stand Philly just as much as the next guy, and yes Wentz has struggled, but it wound be dumb IMO to part ways with him so soon.

yeah that’s not how the cap works.

Sorry was more being sarcastic, That somehow Philly gets bailed out. They always seem to have “cap issues” and sign any and everybody they want

Carson Wentz will be a healthy scratch for the Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 17 game against the Washington Football Team tonight, according to a report from NFL insider Mike Garafolo. Garafolo had the following to say on NFL Network:

Carson Wentz expected to be inactive tonight as Jalen Hurts starts and Nate Sudfeld backs him up. The Eagles, I am told, still believe that they can salvage this situation with Wentz in 2021 and beyond. Don’t want to risk anything, he will not be in uniform tonight.

With Lurie's past in dealing with any employees, I would not tie Wentz moving on to any cap or money figures. If he senses this is a possible disruption, he will move quickly on from it.

The question is which does he prefer? Pederson or Wentz? He could change coaches to appease his QB but then he's got the team and what they think to consider.

I could be wrong because this is all based on observing body language and interactions on that Philly sideline but I think Wentz is done as an Eagle and Lurie will do whatever is necessary, including taking a 3rd day pick to have Wentz off the team. This is the 2nd time Wentz has seen the need to let everyone know he's not happy since he got benched. The only way to fix this is to get rid of him.

The guy on the spot now might be Roseman as he did that contract.

Between the draft, FA and trade options, there will be a lot of QBs available. I would not be surprised if Reich does not go after Carson. Last time they worked together Wentz was not hurt (mentally and physically).

I think he goes to Indy too.

If not Indy than New England.

If I am Wentz, I go to Indy or 49ers or no where.. Believe Wentz has a ton of leverage because what ever team he goes to will want his contract re-done before a trade. Eagles are in a bind...

Think Frank Reich was the glue that held that offense together....since Reich has left the Eagles have been a mess
