Keeping in mind that Deshawn Watson is under contract for the next 5 years at a cap hit average of 33 m/yr and is coming off an outstanding season on a cruddy team....

105.3 The Fan was asking its listeners the other day if they would make this trade:

  • Dallas trades 27 year old Dak Prescott (and his expected 40 m/yr for 5 years asking price) plus their 2021 1st rounder

  • Houston trades 25 year old Deshawn Watson (ave cap 33 mil for nxt 5 years)

Would you do it?

I wouldn't trade the 10th pick away.... 2nd round maybe. If Dak and his clan are that greedy that no matter what offer the Cowboys send they are going to not take it, might as well start talking about things like this. I'm a Dak fan too but it is what it is. Watson would do damage with this offense too. No doubt.

Stop it...Geez, Louise. Dak is not under contract. How can a fantasy trade happen without a contract? This is gonna be a long off-season. Jerry, please sign Dak as quick as possible to a 10 year contract, 6 years guaranteed.

The team should focus on OT, DT, LB, CB and Safety. Y'all crazy with the Dak talk.

No, Watson is mad that he didn't have a say in hiring the new GM. That aun't flyin in D.

Better to trade #10 to a team looking for a QB.
Get another #2, #3 + and work on the defense.

It's their question, not mine.

ftw the people on the show--all big Dak fans--and the people that called in, overwhelmingly said Dallas should make that trade.

Their argument is that
1) you get a better QB (although some here may not agree, 99% of the rest of the league does)
2) who is younger than Dak and
3) costs 7 mil a year less on the cap/yr over 5 years.

Agree or not, that was the argument.

I figured, this being a Cowboy fan site, the number saying take Watson would be far less than what the rest of the NFL fan base would say.
Looks like I was right, so far.

Is this a completely made up scenario? Yes.

Would I do it? Yes. Watson is incredibly talented and younger than Prescott. And I’m a big Prescott fan.

The cap makes it interesting, but Dak and 10 is too much imo. I like Watson, but ironically I also question his durability. He's not a big dude. Dak is a tank and just got caught by 2020. Without getting into a huge Dak is great/sucks debate, I've seen a lot of progress and am interested to see his ceiling.
