@Hennessy_King I tried to warn you this dude sucked but you stood by him until the season started, I can only assume you agree with this firing? Honest question, you may have very well addressed this after the first few weeks and I didn’t see it. I just remember you being adamant that he got a bad rep and his defenses in Atlanta got considerably worse, until they were dead last, because of the roster.

Granted our roster is over rated and sucks as well but not 31st sucks IMO. A think a decent DC could have had them in the low twenties.
I dont agree with the firing i think a hybrid defense is a good scheme. These players suck more than nolan did. I at least give him another season to bring in some guys that arent rejects. And allow him to run his scheme. Country club atmosphere allowed these players to cry it was too hard to learn.

of course you would, fans need to suit the whining , they finally fire Garett, hate the new staff 5 game sin want them all firesd, they said Jerry likes money too much and MM wouldn't fire his buddy, umm they did that..

now you are PRE PLANNING your gripfest on who they replace Nolan with..facts they do have more experience and will make the choice THEY feel is bets..

they dont take fans feelings into consideration.. jeez!:facepalm:o_O

your blessings are not necessary:rolleyes:.
Man you are freaking genius NOBODY but you could know the things you just said. Get over yourself, you dont know if I wanted JG gone or Nolan or what. So stop assuming. What's this fan site for to politically correct or say how I feel. I said I would like it. Just like most of you complain about players. There is no gripefest as you say if they do good. If they dont then yes MOVE ON

Maybe Robert Kraft fires Belichick after a dismal season and he comes to the Cowboys as DC!

Huh, interesting. I’m not sure who sucks worse, the players or Nolan but with pretty much the same defensive roster we were 9th overall last year and 23rd this year.

2019
-5,232 total yards given up
-327 ypg
-321 total points
-20.1 ppg

2020
-6,183 total yards given up
-386 ypg
-473 total points
-29.6 ppg

That’s a very significant difference, maybe Marinelli and Richard were making lemonade out of lemons and people were over rating this talentless defense or Nolan is really that bad.

We were 19th in DVOA which brings more analytics and efficiency to grade the defense. Not just flat out points and yards. We were also below avg in both yards and points allowed per drive. Last season

No these players are bad and even worse mentally. They never bought in and never wanted to buy in. Every vet took a step back except for d law

God I'm gonna be so pissed if we hire Dom Capers.

In addition to Capers, his DC in GB (who just got let go by Minnesota today), other Big Mac longtime defensive assistants up in GB such as Winston Moss, Darren Perry, and Mike Trgovac should all be available as well.

Because he amassed so much "talent" on his coaching staffs over his 13 seasons in GB, Big Mac should have no difficulty finding a replacement for his old buddy Mike Nolan.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Why are you assuming they are being forced on the new dc? Not fired now. Gives DC options if his guys aren't available
Because we have done that repeatedly when formulating staffs.

It was easy to see that Nolan would fail.

His coaching record over the last decade has been a disaster.

Edwards would be a safe choice. He's an excellent coach and his coaching history is solid at Vikes.

KRichard would be the best choice. But Jerry burned that bridge.

I don't think forcing McCurley and Linguist on a coach not familiar with him is very smart.
it's The Cowboys Way.

Welcome to Dallas Coach, let me introduce you to your assistant coaches.

McCurley is a McCarthy guy. He rose up through the ranks at Green Bay during McCarthy's tenure. He was part of the scapegoating McCarthy did after a disastrous 2017 season.
I don't know this for a fact, but I think Linguist was a Jones hiring. I say that because I remember there was talk about how when he was hired, and when Nolan and McCarthy met him, they "instantly liked him."

I don't see any real links between Linguist and those two. Linguist was a career college guy who made the rounds, Doesn't mean he's not a good coach, just another coach who was assigned to McCarthy like Kellen Moore, Doug Nussemeir, and Leon Lett.
