Yes and I’m not willing to forfeit ourselves into mediocrity when guys like Nick Foles can win you a Super Bowl.

Pay the elite and stay out of the market of stupidity.

Agreed. As Dak and Daltons 1st 4 yrs bear out. They are the same.

How do we define over paying?

Mahomes isn’t the bar. You might think it is only because he received a new contract but there will be QB’s paid more than him. And probably beginning next year.
At some point the market will be reset lower.

He does? Name them.

Is it fun pretending to know stuff when you don't?

It was fun watching Kirk Cousins get paid 200 MILLION FULLY GUARANTEED over the last 5 seasons.
LOL
I don’t have to pretend. And Daks agent doesn’t either. LOL

If you don't have to, then why are you?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The negotiations for Dak are going to be infinitely interesting.

Different situation. Jerry desperately needed Romo to renegoiate to get under the cap. Completely different reasoning.

The same reason Romo was re-signed is the same reason Dak will be re-signed. The reasoning is the same.

I’m not saying they should. I’m saying that his agent is using the same method and Jerry has nothing to offer. He’s powerless to stop this. As long as Dak comes back and gets the Ok from the Dr, he’s holding all the cards. This isn’t about playing for DAL. This is about the money. That’s why he got his new agent. Money. And Kirk Cousins laid that path.
I bet his agent asks for even more than last time, knowing they can’t do it. Wait. Wut? Yeah. MORE.
His agent knows there are teams who will pay it. Just like Cousins.
I can only imagine the hate from owners that Ziggy Wilf has got since that idiotic deal.
Dak is going to get his coin. One way or the other.

He will. I see him getting around 33-35mil/season.

Which year?

Romo’s second contract extension in 2013. It was a six-year $108 million deal with 55 million guaranteed. They re-signed him because he was a very good QB who gave them a chance. You can spin whatever you want on why they re-signed him but that’s the reason. Dak will be re-signed for the very same reason.

Now with the playoff wins by Allen and Jackson. You could argue that they deserve more money then Dak. They have the same number of wins and playoff appearances. They both have had better individual seasons then Dak. Most importantly they have done this in three seasons instead of 5. You can say the same for Watson who has done it in 4 years but also has the same record in the playoffs. The Cowboys can argue that Dak is worth between Tannehill and Watson. I think that is what they offered. I wonder how his agent is going to argue that Dak is worth 40 million now?

Actually, in this case, you're the one spinning. It was a well known fact at the time that the 2013 extension was for Jerry to get cap room. Romo only agreed to renegotiate if Jerry agreed to pick OL, which begot us Fredsy. Romo was blatantly tired of Ole' Coasta letting the pass rush come right up the middle w/ barely a pause.

That is exactly what happened. (The spinning accusation was unnecessary, BTW. We're simply having a convo trying to determine facts.)

One of the big solutions to winning is an efficient productive QB and Dak is an efficient productive QB who keeps improving. He’s one of the few players the Cowboys have that give them a chance. Romo gave us a chance which is why he got paid. Some of you want to move on to a lesser, cheaper option at QB which is a recipe for picking in the top 10 every year. Most of the QBs that are getting paid haven’t won anything but they give their teams a chance. Had Dak not gotten injured the Cowboys would have won the NFC East.

Clche after cliche. In response....
1) "Give them a chance" - at what exactly? you mention NFC Least, hardly SB.
2) Most of the QB's that are getting paid havent won anything - ??? so we have to follow??? Id argue that all of them have got to at least a championship game apart for Deshaun and Houston are already regretting signing him, not because of his ability but because they can't put a team around him.
3) QB's are more successful when they fall down the draft and end up on better teams
4) If we pick Top 10 for the following 3 years we've a chance of building something decent when we start cutting/trading the CAP destroying contracts in 2022/23.

The facts are a team doesn’t re-sign a QB to a big deal to get cap room. It gave the Cowboys more cap room but that’s not the main reason they re-signed him. I know you don’t know how to copy and paste unless you’ve learned how but where did you get the story that Romo would only agree to renegotiate if the Cowboys picked on the OL? I would love to see the link.

Never heard that one before. lol You better have learned to copy and paste because that requires a link.
