Worst part of that list is bringing back Woods.

Rest of league sees he is pure garbage and he gets no offers.....so Dallas thinks they are getting a bargain and keep running him out there.

The guy is like 54 and 98....not only are they no good, they are a liability.
The XWoods issue is tough.
He's on a very bad year where he murdered his own FA market.
Dallas has seen him fare far better in the prior defense and up to this point has shown zero stomache for the 10M safety that will be available in FA. (Simmons/Maye/Harris et al)
Harris AAV is 15M according to
Spotrac. lol at that for Dallas.

Spotrac says 7.5M or Marcus Maye. Maybe Dallas would stretch that far.
In not options get limited real quick.

And Dallas in house options are truly awful.

So Bobby Belt posted the below Tweet last week, and at the time, I didn't think much of it. Thought it was 100 percent speculation that this team would ever be looking into moving on from #77. But he doubled down on it last week, citing the team's frustration with his recent injury history and the fact that they can free up 10M more dollars of cap space to presumably sign their QB or add some cogs on defense. Still thought he was crazy.

But, as I was listening to a Jeff Cavanaugh live stream yesterday, he dropped a nugget I haven't heard before. Apparently, Tyron Smith is completely at odds right now with Cowboys medical personnel and has been for years. They don't get along, which is why most of the work done on him is done elsewhere.

I don't see an heir apparent on this roster, but if this is what the Joneses are thinking, who starts at LT?

Id hate to see him go, but overall I'd love to see us have the gumption to make most of these moves.

Why release him? He is under contract, can still play, and if he is unhappy would sign off on a trade deal. I am sure another team would give up a 3rd or even a 2nd round pick for him considering his age. He is still considered a top LT when he plays. I just do not see Dallas releasing him for nothing. at $10 million is is cheap for a starting LT. The 49ers gave up a 3rd and 5th for Trent Williams who is older and had a lot more leverage over the WFT.
That's a great point.
Tyron with zero GTD money left due is a great trade option IF he is healthy.
But he may not pass NFL physicals required for trades to go through.
And he may just prefer the release himself meaning he'd be difficult to work with.
WFT did get a trade for Trent but they openly fought him for a while he stepped away on them before it all worked out.

Cowboys will think he's done like the Rangers did with Pudge....then he will go on to play 10 more years and bring his team championships.

Tyron has been missing games every year wouldn’t be surprised if he retires. He’s had neck and back issues. Whether he returns or not the Cowboys are going to have to start finding his replacement. He can’t be depended on to play a full season.

easy LC kicks to Left and Knight/erving/steele fight for RT

plan all along..left handed LC would do great at LT

if moving on they mean trading yes or him retiring yes, outfighting cutting him i highly doubt it..

what trade value does he have maybe 3rd or 4th that could be 3rd depending on play time etc

No.chance, they’d have to get up to pick 2 or 3 and that’ll cost wayyyy too much for a tackle that has never played 1 snap in the NFL & played in the PAC-10. I get he’s a potential stud but this isn’t the Pac-10

LOL Pac-10? It changed to the Pac-12 years ago.

You know Tyron Smith is from the that conference?

Not sure it's that easy. Erving isn't under contract, Knight played awful down the stretch and Steele doesn't start on 31 other teams.

Wouldn't want any of those guys starting if you can find someone better available.

Meh. I get the cap savings part but you'll be potentially investing a top pick on a replacement that may or may not come close to his level of play.

Keep Smith and draft a replacement. If the young guy looks good then move on. But don't make a hole, spend a premium pick and gamble all your chips on that guy protecting your franchise QB

i guarantee they are NOT takig a LT in the frist round they will not trade ul to get one..we have them on the roster, weve spent far too much money on an OL already and maybe grab one in the 3rd round possibly but no way rd 1 &2 are going best defender available..

If Smith is gone I'd take a look at Collins, Martin and Williams at both tackle spots, and see if you can get a good combo there.
I could see most likely Collins at LT and Martin or Williams at RT.
Use a third or forth round pick on a tackle as well and let's roll.

We needed to do something about that a month ago..

Too late now.

10th pick it is.
You dont try to lose though!. We cant want a team to try and lose and get mad at them when they lose amd dont try too. There are still ways to move up.
