Cleveland succeeded in getting to the playoffs by being winning winners. They beat the Pittsburgh Steelers today because of a constant winning environment. No teams can tank and transform into winners. It doesn't happen because of what it does in the locker room (like a losing character infection). Most great teams start by being champions and then just continuing being awesome. Winning begets winning. Losing begets losing. Here endeth the lesson to anyone saying that losing can equal wins in the future.

I agree. I don't care as much about the draft picks. We need to establish a winning culture and a fuctional environment. Winning 3 out of 4 to end the season and immediately firing Nolan is positive steps IMO. Hopefully the Jones can carry this positive momentum and look themselves in the mirror and make changes. But I agree that losing on purpose or playing games not to win is the beginning of the end. Ala the Phil Eagles right now. Yeah they got a better draft pick but they're are mess. Players mad, locker room may be against the coach, etc.

You lie. The Browns were tankers for years and now it has transformed them into a winner.

Browns are basically the inventors of tanking but go ahead with that pipe dream.

They had
an insane amount of First Round Picks the past years and finally made some smart Coaching Investments which lead to the recent success.

Since 2014 Browns had these Draft Picks:

2014 2x 1st Round (Pick 8 and 22)
2015 2x 1st Round (Pick 15 and 19)
2016 2x 1st Round (Pick 15 and 32)
2017 3x 1st Round (Picks 1, 25, 29)
2018 2x 1st Round (Pick 1 and 4 aswell as Pick 33 and 35)
2020 1x 1st Round (Pick 10)

So in the last 6 years they had 12 First Round Picks including 8 Top 20 Picks. Twice the 1st Overall. 3 Picks in the Top 10 and that doesnt include a ton of early 2nd Round Picks.

They just built smartly through the Draft, hired good Coaches and got Lucky with Some Picks.

It's Cleveland's 1st winning season in 13 years and 3rd in 25. Not a winning environment.

Are you telling me that winning is more complex than just having a winning environment? You mean drafting high in the rounds can sometimes lead to drafting major impactful players that lead to success???????????????????? I'm floored!

No offense, but what does this current Cowboys team and its fans know about winning? We haven’t “won” anything significant in over 20 years. Leave the winner talk to the actual winners.
They won 3 of the last 4 games which is what the OP was talking about establishing a winning environment. Winning begets winning.

Exactly. I'm prepared to believe that the Cowboys winning totals towards the end of the year will definitely lead to the success that Cleveland is currently enjoying. It's something like 10 parts winning environment and coaching, 0.5 parts talent, 20 parts good health, 50 points kick *** attitude. I'm not good at intangible math so give or take 50 points on any of these.

How do you think the Cleveland Browns were able to get their foundational players (QB & DE) on Offense & Defense? By winning?

Nope.

By being the worst in back-to-back years.

Try again.

You get an F for the day.

They could have gotten the same type of talent and results, no matter where they drafted (same talented players are drafted every year in all the rounds). Accident, chance, team chemistry, and a winning attitude allowed them to mold Myles Garrett and Baker Mayfield into semi decent players.

So what your saying is we should tank for like 15 years to get enough #1s (as well as replace those #s we lost from moving on) to get a decent team? Ok gotcha :cool:

Totally disagree. Who are you trying to kid? No way they could have gotten talents like Baker Mayfield and Myles Garrett everywhere in all of the rounds those particular years.

Cleveland was not taking they just were not good which is why they also fired coaches, why the hell would you fire a coach if the organization was trying to tank? . Losing on purpose is not a solution and only enforces the notion that it is alright to lose. You may want that many of us don't. You hit the field you play to win the damn game.

I guess you did not understand what the OP was saying. What you just posted is a losing attitude.

Therefore creating a winning attitude. But all those picks sure did help with talent.

Thank you very much. They actually should have done better with draft picks. This is great for Baker but he is still under a lot of pressure. I don't see the Browns paying him a huge contract yet. The big change this year was having a coach who plays to the teams strengths.
Mayfield primarily passes out of shotgun, his height is still a major concern. Having the right coach makes all the difference in the world.

It was because 3 or 4 years ago as they accumulated as many draft picks, then traded down, accumulated more draft picks. Then used all those draft picks. With as many as they had, it was like Jimmy having the Vikings trade from Walker. And they used them correctly. The had to hit on players with that many picks.

I said at the end of the 2017 season, and got blasted for it, that the Browns were closer to a SB than we were. If they beat KC, that puts them close as they will get to the AFCCG.
