This has to be a Jones hire.

McCarthy explicitly stated he didn't want a one call defense.

no "have to be" its a group decision MM may have saw what happened, see whats the roster ;looks lik and what they can do with it next season and had change of heart..a man isnt allowed to change their minds? he fires his buddy , people are flexible and have every right to change their minds and no way Jerrys forces a DC on MM , he will allow Mm to either improve or hang himself..

I think so too. I’d like the hire. He was a great dc. Coach he was good for a bit but his career as a coach deteriorated. This could be the move we need.
also could be those virtual interviews on the outside were for dc but both could be a postion hire by Quinn once hes hired, they are tied at some points,,

We never learn do we...

Dear oh dear..

I can't believe this is what Mike McCarthy wanted. He has very little power and no say.

Just when we had a chance to rebuild a DEF with a modern approach

Who exactly did you have in mind.

Sam Darnold and the Jets destroyed this one call defense. I’m guessing there going to the bend don’t break. Hope to hold to FGs and the offense can win 38-35

In Quinn's first season as defensive coordinator, the Seahawks led the league in fewest points allowed, fewest yards allowed, and takeaways with 231, 4,378, and 39, respectively, to become the first team since the 1985 Chicago Bears to accomplish the feat; the Seahawks went on to win Super Bowl XLVIII.

I will take this.

Nope, not buying that. Booger gave him his chance with his staff, now he will have Booger's choice for DC on his staff. And you can bet on Booger's list of requirements was "former HC".

Quinn brings one thing that Booger values highly because he experienced that first hand in college, a coach the players like playing for and will push themselves to please.

So is Quinn another in the line of Richard - mostly zone defense, little blitzing relying just on the front four, etc?

Yeah, that doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies

Where’s Cam Chancellor, Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman in their prime on this defense?

Gus Bradley, Lovie Smith, or George Edwards would be my top 3. If push come to shove.Quinn has been figured out it seems. Lost his edge.

Who exactly did you have in mind.

Someone with a history of running a multiple front DEF successfully or an up and coming coach from another team/college that shows great potential. Not someone who has been in charge of team whose DEF has been poor for a number of years.

Quinn is better than the other two candidates I guess.

He runs more of a 4-3 Under scheme that would push us back to a more traditional look than Nolan's 4-2-5-Yuck. If that were the case, our secondary would be more of a Cover 3 where our corners would press a bit more vs. off ball. Up front, we might see a bit more of a LEO pass rush role for someone like Jaylon if he stays. He might be better trying to rush a passer vs. move laterally at this point.

In today's NFL as offenses continue to get more creative and explosive and the rules favor the offense over the defense, I think you need more creative coordinators who are willing to take more risk on defense.

Quinn ain't that. He's a re-tread. I mean he's probably better than Nolan but that's not saying much. Would be a typical uninspiring hire by Jerry, but at this point, after witnessing his handling of coaches for the last 20 years, why should I expect anything different?

we need them to choose the best players to keep and replace, the FA and draft is critical so with upgraded talent alone will improve this defense ..heck go from bottom 5 to say around 16 with our offense would make for successful season IMO
