I’m not but I’m saying holding teams to 20 points doesn’t mean we’ll make the playoffs as the poster I quoted said would happen.

Right. Our offense will have to be better against good defenses. We weren't under Garrett and even in the opener, we weren't against the Rams (the only good defense we played before Dak's injury).

Jury's still out on a lot of things for this team, as it should be after a bad season filled with injuries. We don't know how good this offense will be under McCarthy/Moore and we definitely don't know if the defense will even be good at all under Quinn.

One of the few things I'm pretty sure of is that the defense won't be good enough if we don't acquire some talent for it. That the Joneses thought it would be, that they did enough on that side of the ball to contend, scares me more than any coordinator choice we could have made.

I think you are one of those fans who does not understand that Campo had trash at QB and a no talent team whereas Garrett wrecked the career of a top 5 QB (Romo)

so please spare me
Cant you that excuse for 1 guy and not the others. JG didnt gave much of a Defense most years either. And what about Gaily and the other horrible HC between jimmy and Parcells...

I had a very bad feeling about Nolan and Quinn isnt the most innovative flashy guy but with these dumb players like Jaylon Smith, Xavier Woods and co. we might be better off running a very easy basic 4-3 Quinn Defense.

You can blame Rod Marinelli for his bend but dont break and lack of attacking but all our LBs were Pro Bowl caliber Players in this simple 4-3 scheme and Tank Lawrence made a name himself.

As with every coach i give him a season before i judge.

Nolan might have turned out to be good but installing a complete new very complex scheme without a real Offseason was set to fail.

Hopefully Quinn gets a "normal" Offseason with the guys.

that defensive tenure is a joke. I shouldn’t be surprised though. Why WOULDN'T you hire a clown for a circus? Quinn will be the clown that BLOWS.
My dude relax.

If you want a fair comparison of defensive rankings you need to look at his tenure in Seattle. Wade Phillips was a horrible HC but an incredible DC. I know it’s not the hire we wanted (I wanted martindale or spags) but if Quinn is left to just coach defence and has input in the draft. We are in good shape. I’m trying to be optimistic here. We have a top ten pick. And a new DC let’s see what happens.

but you are saying that Campo was so much worse than Garrett and that’s not true

Garrett just acted better and had a LOT more talent but he was just as much garbage as Campo was. Give Campo Garrett’s team with Romo and I guarantee he’d get 8-8 like Garrett did. so yes, Garrett was the worst HC we’ve ever had

Good points and I agree to an extent. I believe the offensive line will be above average next season, Dak will be back, Pollard will have an increased role (particularly in the passing game), Lamb will be experienced and smarter, and Schultz will be even better. Regardless of their schedule and the strength of the division, if the Cowboys struggle to average 20 points a game next year some heads need to roll.
Couldn’t agree more, we should have a top 5 offense at worst.

Jason Garrett wasted more talent than any coach probably in the history of the NFL. And thats not being funny. Thats my honest opinion.

I read a report earlier stating that the defense will be multiple aggressive attacking scheme. It depends on the type of players we bring in. If we go linebacker in the draft like Collins we will be multiple. If we draft Parsons we will be a basic 4/3. If we go Farley it will probably be a more aggressive scheme because of his man to man skills at cornerback. Surtain we will probably be more like Quinn’s days with Seahawks. I don’t think Jaylon can be in a complicated defense because of his limitations. If he comes back that might be the first tell about we’re we are going.

I think with this hiring, Jaylon is safe for another year. Wonder if they continue to play him at the Will or move him to the strong-side.
