Should Dallas try and bring in Richard Sherman as a FS?

I heard that talked about but honestly in my opinion it seems when you draft a kid then try to change his position it does not seem to work out often. Myself If am going to draft a safety then draft a kid who has played safety same with CB let him play CB. Just my 2 cents

Ya I get that. It didn't work well with Byron but we need several positions on D and I don't like Wade as a selected CB but I like his toughness. Well see

I would bring him in on. 1 year deal or so depending on dollars. Mostly for vet leadership and transition for the young guys with this Defense

We can maybe just guess at what we may have in Reggie Robinson.

No need to have seen that on the field in a 6-10 season.

..and the vastly inexperienced (practically red shirted) 2nd year converted safety Reggie Robinson can at least be our 3rd safety unless he proves he can beat out converted safety Richard Sherman, whose signed up on a 1 or 2 year incentive lade deal.

To be fair, Ricardo Allen played FS for Quinn a converted CB who ran 4.61 at the combine.

And the Falcon's defense was awful. If you are going to play centerfield then ideally you have at least reach the hash on 20 yard throws. Allen could not do that and they suffered.

If I’m not mistaken, Kazee was the starter before injury

Read a tweet last week that's he one of the smartest, if not the smartest CB in the league coz he watched a lot of films. Kinda the Sean Lee / Ed Reed in that regard. But he's probably still looking for starter money $12-14M. I said in another thread if we signed Quinn, look for either Earl Thomas or Sherman to also sign giving him a vet presence on the back end that mentor the young guys. ET is more likely IMO.....

BTW.....Malik Hooker would be perfect and cheap ( PPF projects his value at only $2M ) coz injuries concerns.

I have a tough time thinking Kazee or Hooker will be ready to play for the start of the season.

Also they may have lost a step.

Achilles is a tough one.

I'd be happy if they got either of them but I'm not sure thats the long term answer and I'm sick of discussing the same position every off season

I was watching one of those YouTube podcast and they had Barry Church on as a guest. One of them floated this idea and Church thought it was a good one. So, what do y’all think? He’s lost a step as a CB but he might have a couple more years in him as a Safety. Could be the mentor this young 2ndary needs.
I think it would be a horrible idea. If you think Sherman can still play you are probably also for being back Bob Lilly.

Sherman at CB maybe.
Sherman at FS heck no.

Cowboys need some speed at that FS.

Sherman was great because he basically mauled the guy all the way down the field on every play.

As has already been stated a dozen times.. Sherman is too slow to be a free safety.. especially in a single high cover 3 scheme.. So that's a hard pass for me. Draft a free safety from an SEC school (or Ohio State) who runs 4.3 and be done with it.

Hard to take anyone seriously who doesn't think Sherman is a good fit for this team. His "down" year was still better than any DB on our roster. He would immediately be the #1 corner until Diggs steps up to pass him.

The language gap might be a problem. The new DC would have to know Shermanspeak such as:

"gutetfimonshun cuz hitin da neech!!! ("I am getting tired, coach.")
"fraughter schmeeze fergot dankin" ("How do you do")
Or
"Get her man you deals gumma!" ("Can I have a safety on top, dear leader?)

Sherm was a great player in his prime but that is no longer the case. The same is true for ET. Some fans seem to think they would be getting that player in their prime and immediately roll out the welcome wagon. In reality, it's no longer a good idea to sign these players. So, no thank you.
