I love the move for the Lions. /I don't think much of Goff but if they can salvage him...that's the best possible deal they could get.

Right. I thought someone might give up a 1 for him if they were in win-now mode, but nothing like this.

Stafford is going into his 13th season. He's had one year with a QB rating over 100 (and that was in 2019 when he only played in eight games). And even though he played in all 16 games this season, you've got to have some caution/concern about him breaking bones in his back the previous year. Wear and tear is tough enough on someone who has been in the league as long as he has.

I mean I kind of get the deal. The Lions are being paid with future 1st round picks, so less valuable, and they are being paid to take on a very bad contract for a bad player.

Agreed. Just insane. I wonder how much people think Stafford will cost the Rams when its time to re-sign lol?

Unlike Stafford, Goff has had essentially two full seasons with 100-plus ratings. And last season wasn't that much different for them: Goff 67 percent completions, 20 TDs, 13 ints., 90 rating; Stafford 64 percent, 26 TDs, 10 ints., 96 rating.

That's not two first-round picks and a third-rounder's worth of difference, especially when you consider the age/experience gap.

The moral of this lesson don’t kill yourself with a stupid QB contract unless they are other worldly.

I said the same thing. I'd rather have Goff and those picks than Stafford. To me they are similar tiers...2nd/3rd tier guys.....this trade is like it was two guys in two different leagues.

So the Rams aren't allowed to restructure Ramsey to get more cap space? Or restructure anyone for that matter?

Let's put it to bed and move on: Rams weren't a player for Watson.

1. Ram's have no 2021 1st round pick to offer. Texans will demand this.
2. If Ram's had Watson, Ramsey and Donald...their upcoming draft picks will be at the END of the round. Unattractive for Texans.
3. Rams are already talking salary cap casualties. Cap is big issue for them.*

We all can safely say L.A. would have preferred Watson over Stafford. L.A. knew they had no shot at that.

If accurate, this is the most horrific trade in the history of the NFL. It surpasses what New Orleans and dumb ash Ditka did to trade all 1999 draft picks for stoner/head case Ricky Williams.
Horrific trade both and the Rams are the newest punch line in sports.
Jerry now looks somewhat brighter and more competent.

Right. Like a Brady, Brees or Rodgers. I wouldn't expect this for a Stafford.

Let me make that clear that I'm talking about recent Brady, Brees or Rodgers, not when they were in their prime. I don't think no amount of picks would have been considered enough when they were in their prime.

The GM and coach are obviously thinking if they don't win they can get the boot.

That's giving up the future of the team for years to come. Nobody else would want that job over there after all that.

So it's all in on win mode for Les Snead and Sean McVay.

They'll be going after a WR and in FA.

Job security at its finest.

Nice trade by Detroit. Can't believe they got away with that. I bet it will be a fun game to watch when they play each other next season.
