They are and they have balls to use Stafford to test this lol...yikes.

That's insane. They literally don't value 1st round picks at all.

Since 2016 they've invested 4 1st round picks in quarterbacks......if McVey is the QB guru and offensive genius he's painted to be he sure seems to be wasting a lot of 1st rounders on guys.
They could trade this years 2nd for a mid to late 2022 first tomorrow if they wanted.

the value of what they traded is a 2021 2nd and 3rd rounder.

Not at all. This is likely a win-win trade. Stafford plus an offensive genius like McVay? Prepare to be surprised my friend.

If they succeed they succeed. But they are attempting to succeed at a way no one else is. If it works I guess they are geniuses.....you can't survive trading 1st rounders year in and out.

I'd also question the timing of this trade....what was the rush?

Yeah I don't think so. They haven't had a 1st rounder since 2016...if it was that easy they would have traded back into the 1st by now.

Honestly if they're claiming Watson is worth 3 1's then dak is as well.
Watson is under contract, Dak is not.

If they were both under contract, I'd agree with your sentiment.

As of now, your only guarantee is that Dak makes $37.69 million and a team can tag him again (a third time) in 2022 for around $55 million. So basically a 2-year deal at around $93 million. No team is giving up valuable assets (multiple high draft picks) and face having to pay Dak under Franchise Tag money the next 2 years,

So, some of you will want to argue that of course a team would obviously have to agree to an extension with Dak as part of any deal being made. This assumes the Cowboys don't place the Exclusive Tag on him again. Meaning he can't be signed to an offer sheet. Dallas would then have to grant Dak's agent the ability to talk to other teams and negotiate a contract before Dallas can then negotiate a trade. Again, Dak would continue to have all of the leverage because he could simply tell the new team he will not sign a long-term deal with them. The Jones do not appear to be in a place where they would allow Dak to talk to other teams. At least not now, there are a few months between when Dak would have the Tag actually placed on him and when the July deadline is to get a deal done. If things are not going well in contract talks, I could see Jerry allowing for that possibility (teams negotiating with Dak's agent) in the summer. No team wants to be in a situation where they might have to tag a Quarterback 3 years in a row.

True. That's the risk/reward though isn't it.
I guess it depends upon your valuation of Matt Stafford. E.g. Aaron Rodgers indicates that he's one of the best out there whereas some beer guzzling fans who haven't been able to see their Johnson in over 20 years think he's a bum..gee I wonder who is in a better position to judge...

I can still see my Johnson but Rodgers is also a loser who lucked into 1 superbowl. He gets clowned every year in the playoffs. You cant just parrot what the media tells you.

Lol, the homer who thinks the Rams suck even though they have done more in the past 5 years than we have in the past 2 decades, chimes in with his wisdom. This isn’t surprising coming from the same guy that wanted to keep Garrett.
You still mad? Man listen.....go get some man...go let your hair down. You're too uptight and sensitive right now. Your significant other isn't putting it down what's the real issue here?

You may be right that they dont value 1sts the they should.
I was just stating trade values

They wanted the present years 2nd since they had no 1st.

that’s why they don't do it. Not having a 1st and 2nd in the same year would really suck.

but sure, historically a later, current year 1st rounder is valued at a mid 2nd the upcoming year.

A 2021 2nd = a mid 2022 1st.

Thats how they are valued and it shows up that way in trades.

Really? They’ve survived a lot better then we have over the past 4 years without a first much better than we have and I wouldn’t be surprised to see that continue. Coming from the same guy that considers any player who starts a game, no matter how bad that player performs as being a good draft pick, this comes as no surprise.

Houston: "Hey NFL GM's, You want in on Watson? Negotiation starts w/3 first rounders. Don't bother to call us unless that's your base offer."

Could cost four 1st rounders, PLUS.
Are you a Lions fan or Stafford fan? Just wondering...............

It is but when is the last time a team traded next years 1st rounder for a 2nd the current year?

So this is same as Stafford for Goff plus a 2021 2nd and 3rd rounder.
Rams didnt even have a 1st rd pick this year.
Maybe still be too rich, but nowhere remotely near what it sounds like.

NOT 2 current 1st rounders.

These are “future” 1st rounders not current.
Not at all the same

The Rams could trade this years 2nd for a 2022 1st easily. And a 2021 3rd is valued as a mid 2023 1st.

That is laughably short sighted.

Let me ask you a question. Do this year's 1st round picks have less value than they used to? Should we have traded this 10th overall pick for a 2019 3rd rounder?

Absolutely ridiculous.

I shave my head. Here you go again, running from your accusations. You’re like the little runt on the playground or the frat boy in the bar that says something to someone they shouldn’t have said something to and then run away thinking you’re a tough guy. Now you want to talk about my significant other? For the record, I would put good money on her kicking the holy living crap out of you and making you her little boy.

The math was approx. like this:

-Rams gave 1st and 3rd for Stafford
-Rams gave other 1st to unload Goff and that contract
Indeed TRO, it was a garbage contract, Wentz was a garbage contract,, the Rams and Eagles jacked the market...
Maybe Stephen isnt a total idiot just yet.. this stafford deal just sent a shock wave
