The Rams gave up all that and going into the 2021 season they will be what 30mil over the cap??? This will be interesting to see how they get under the cap. Restructure a bunch of player and push it down the road and then not have any picks??? WOW Some of you thought the Jones were bad. LOL LOL

Man I wouldve loved to get that kind of haul for Dakota
Dak and his agent just did a fist pump seeing one less QB available.
Its going to be very interesting to see if Stafford is going to be what they hope for. Stafford has been stuck with a crappy team forever and has really never had much help. Yeah he had Calvin Johnson but one WR doesnt do it against the better teams. Stafford is probably dancing in the streets so happy to go to a good team with a good offensive coach.

good for Detroit. They smoked the Rams on this trade. Rams gave up a ridiculous amount of resources for a 2 year rental on an aging QB that has never won anything at the pro level. Rams have now hamstrung themselves from a team standpoint and stripped away resources/picks to build on. Detroit is sitting in the catbird seat. While Goff is just a steady bus driver..TY DETMER 2.0...he's proven he's capable . HE IS YOUNG. Detroit 99% likely will not draft a QB at 7. They dont make this deal otherwise. Goff is the guy they hitched their wagon to. Look for them to go oline at 7, or WR like Smith.

At least they have the fortitude and humility to admit a mistake and move on.

Yes, the price was huge. But now they have taken a huge contract burden off of themselves for future seasons.

If this were Dallas, they would have sat and suffered, refusing to admit a mistake and continue to pay dead weight.
Omg Alexander lives!

Yes and no.

Goff is not an asset, he's a liability. Worthless player w/massive cap. Unloading him probably cost the Rams one of the first-rounders.

The first round picks will almost certainly be at the bottom of round 1, and the 3rd round pick will also be late.
Goff has been below league average for two years now. And with a QB friendly coach. Considering that and the fact he has so much money coming to him, a 1st rounder was likely a tax for taking him on.

The me the Rams basically gave up a 1st and 3rd for for Stafford. Which seems about right.

They've still got to draft smart with these picks, but, yeah. They totally got the sweet end of this deal. If they draft smart with those picks and coach well, they could become a real force.

The only downside I can see for Detroit is Goff’s contract. If he continues to struggle— your cap is jacked up, AND you are still looking for a franchise QB and the bevy of picks you just landed will have to be used to try and move up somewhere to get your guy.

But if Goff is able to produce? Then Detroit just absolutely crushed it. Either way— they were correct to do the deal, fleece LA, move on from Stafford, and see if Goff can improve with a change of scenery

Goff has been below league average the last two years with a QB friendly coach and much better talent. It's very unlikely he gets better in Detroit

Plus people seem to be forgetting that the two first round picks will likely be 25-32, far closer to second round picks. Not premium first round picks.

They way I see the Lions will probably start Goff this year to see if they can do something with him. Then cut bait in 2022 when they cant. They are heading into a rebuild, the assets are nice but they still need a QB. Its not going to be Goff

The new GM for Detroit came from LA. You may be right and Goff may continue to struggle— Or the Detroit GM is crazy like a fox and has a good idea about how to help get him right.

Either way— Detroit was ready to move on from Stafford anyway, and they just got a bunch of picks to improve their squad. But it would definitely be “Detroit” for Goff to suck, and for them to whiff on all those picks lol
