goff is a california kid so maybe the 49ers or chargers.
if the lions keep him...obviously they restructure that deal.
you would think any way.
but goff may not be at his final destination yet.

Chargers have Herbert so only SF if he were to be traded back to California.

If it wasn’t Jan. I wound be waiting for the ‘April Fools’ punch line. The Rams have lost their minds with this trade.

Taking on what contract? The Rams had to eat the dead money so all Detroit is left with is the following:

2021 Cap Hit $27.825M $0 Dead Money

2022 Cap Hit $25.5M $0 Dead Money

2023 Cap Hit $25M $0 Dead Money

2024 Cap Hit $26M $0 Dead Money

So what Detroit got was a former #1 overall QB whose cap hits are below market value for QB's with absolutely ZERO dead money.....oh, and they also got back a 3rd round pick in 2021, a 1st round pick in 2022 & 2023.....so I would say Detroit made out and is fully capable of now trading Goff to a QB needy team for additional draft picks without any dead money penalty against their cap.

As for Stafford, he had $19M in dead money remaining on his deal which Detroit will get hit with but based on his 2021 cap hit of $33M, Detroit actually will save $14M against the cap in 2021 by having traded Stafford.
If thats the case, it would seem that Detroit can just cut Goff entirely and not be on the hook for the salaries, with no cap hit.

I wouldn't expect him to be there for more than a year.

Goff can hold down the fort for a year....and with this arsenal of picks, they have their choice of QBs (outside of Lawrence) in this draft and let them sit for a season.

Decent plan and good for them.

Which brings up one question we're all thinking but as usual you look to your leader to ask it.

If that was the asking price for Stafford why didn't the Cowboys do it?

Pffft.

because Dak is not under contract

Disagree. The Rams must now be favorites to win the NFC. They may have damaged their longer term future, but with Stafford they are a championship calliber team.
They really aren’t.

Seattle’s defense will gel together this season and Russel Wilson still led the best offense in the NFC this year with a bad o-line and sophomore wide out as his #1 option.

Cardinals are going to draft the best cornerback in the draft this year and shore up their awful secondary. With their top 5 offense if they improve their defense they’ll be a top seeded team in 21’.

The rams window was closed the day after their Super Bowl. They massively overachieved making the divisional round this season.

Ty for your service. My son serves on the left coast. But yeah..all that dead money won't help. Which is why I think Goff isn't at his final destination. Detroit is in full rebuild mode and they will have to try to shed that contract fast.Ii think a team like Miami, San Fran or washington might be where he goes.

Sadly it's to be expected in this group by some for how dare anyone question not bringing Dak back.

Yeah, it’s crazy! Some are so obsessed that you can’t even possibly question Dak not being here next season without them flipping out and hurling insults.

it shows just how desperate teams are to win. They massively overreach and effectively deal themselves out. Rams look stunningly inept in the front office. Just look at the fact they do not hold a 1st round pick for the next few years.

At least the Rams are trying........while we settle for the mediocre.
good point...but trying is only good if you get the desired result. THEY HAVE NOT. This trade will prove to be fatal to the franchise for years. Picks are way too valuable to just trade away, especially premium ones.

You name calling people to make your precious Dak point is like a fat kid at an all you can eat buffet counting calories of other people.
I apologize soldier.
Though during training on a beautiful little Island in Beaufort, SC I learnt a person describing my actions or words in specific encounters does not necessarily project into my overall character.

for example @USArmyVet is a great soldier but post some buffoonery about Dak

At the end of the day all this online crap is meaningless as none of us can control what the dysfunctional Dallas FO does and what matters to me is being a good man, a good husband, and a great father.

Fair enough I stand corrected. Surprised the Rams are able to effectively take on two QB contracts.

This is hilariously bad for Rams.
They have cap troubles and just tripled down on that by jettisoning their premium draft capital the next 36 months.

They are likely better next year but in the toughest division in football there is zero chance I'd go all in on a 2 season window like this.
SEA was already all in after Jamal Adams trade and the 49ers may join you if they can get a QB.

The upgrade from Goff to Stafford is moderate at best. The composite 2020 EPA+CPOE put Stafford 20th and Goff 23rd.
The Rams have slightly better weapons for sure and you might get Stafford up to in the 10th to 12th best area but those weapons are no longer young and cheap.
The Lions with Golladay and Hockensen had some weapons.
