Jerruh is crazy not to at least examine what the Cowboys could get if they traded Dak. A Herschel Walker type deal, which would set the team up for years could be possible. Now, I honestly don't think signing Dak or not signing Dak will get us to the super bowl as no coach since Jimmy has shown the ability to overcome the incompetence of the Jones Boys, but Jerry can't GM forever, and a foundation for a quality team could be built.

Someone may have pointed this out in the previous 35 pages but if not...holy moly

They gave up 2 first round picks, 2 second round picks, and 2 thirds to get Goff in the first place. So, in total, to get Stafford they gave up 4 first rounds, 2 second rounds, and 3 third round draft picks.

I’ve always been in the sign Dak crowd. But, if we could get more than what Detroit got, I’d be interested in trading him or at least thinking about it. Apparently there are teams out there that will greatly overpay for a QB.

Yeah and giving up draft capital isn’t helping build that defense. I don’t know why this is so hard for people to comprehend
You are assuming they'll use that capital to build a defense. Why haven't they? Used the last 1st on another WR, 2 in 3 years.

Agreed. I could live with Goff and loading up on D

yet they somehow remain in playoff contention in tough division, boggles the mind..it goes against all things normal..is this analytics, is the gm and coach seeing win now is the mantra an d1st rounders while nice are for building teams?

Cameron Irving, Joe Looney, Austin Corbett

NFL is a rough game. Backups are key. 7 mil can buy you 2-3 quality backups.
didn't we already have those on our team? and like I said, you can get back ups (plenty of those around), but nobody of any impact

This is the move you make when you're one or two players away from being Superbowl contenders.

Not sign Dak to a massive contract that will only hurt the team moving forward. Blah Blah Blah I don't wish to see him go but it would be in the best interest of both parties to go separate ways

And if they don't get "the chip" some people are going to be fired. It's a bold move, basically putting your job on the line.

Of course, no trades in Dallas put anyone's job on the line. Except maybe the coach, who isn't the guy who made the trade.
That's the game they play but I don't think the Rams owner isn't involved in that decision.

And McVay has nothing to lose, he gets fired, he lands a better job within a week. The NFL recycles coaches and he's wunderkind.

I think the Rams being in the LA market was a factor in this deal.

LA is a Dodgers and Lakers town. The battle to remain relevant in LA is really hard. Fans will turn you off in a heartbeat if you aren't relevant. This isn't Dallas where the stadium is full no matter how bad they are.

This is a splash, go-for-it move to not only win now, but to remain relevant in a very tough sports market.

From this perspective, the deal does make sense. This is why the Clippers got Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

Let's See...McVay came to L.A. leading into 2017 season:

Turned around a broken team and has gone 43-21.

He's a very smart cat. The Rams did TWO things:
-Unloaded a very bad contract for Goff
AND
-Got themselves a top-14 quarterback, whom will likely be deadly in the Ram's scheme.

Yes. They PAID. No risk it-No biscuit.

You must understand folks: Goff was a liability, not an asset. The Rams sweetened the deal to dump him and that salary albatross. And...AND...they stopped divisional rival 49ers from snatching up Stafford.

nah id take Garoppolo and 2 firsts and third for dak from SF right now..they will be desperate to match the rams and if that doesnt work ,

Aaron rogers wants to be in SF imagine that trade, i would have said it is impossible but now, i think it might..

this will be crazy off season of QB turnover and carousel of them changing teams..nuts plain nuts!

It's really simple, either they feel their window is open or it is not. If it's open except for that guy, you go for it, the future is now because you do not know when you will be that close again.

The other team in their division in the same boat needs to make a move now and one of their better options is now off the table. Can they get in the Watson sweepstakes? Or is Rodgers returning home and to the team that should have drafted him in the future for the Niners?

I was in favor of giving up the 10th for Stafford but only that with the thinking he would be cheaper but that may not be the case anyway. This team is a lot more than a QB away from competing for anything but the lowly East.

I don't think the Rams don't value them, just differently. They want to use them to win now.

The mindset of a GM of a team with the window open is a different animal and so is his owner. The future doesn't seem to matter when they're so close to it they can see it.

When the Walker trade went down, one of my business buds was the GM of the flagship station of the Vikes and the optimism about that trade was overwhelming for the city and fans. Mike Lynn was a friend of his and more than aware of the risk. He had lunch with him that week and Lynn told him he's getting a ride out of this trade and that it would either be in a parade car or on a rail.

The Rams fans should be jumping for joy.

Which would you rather have? A FO that risks it all when the window is open or one that dabbles and never gets close to the Dance?

I'd want something in the middle. A team that risks but does it smartly. I'm sorry but I can't say getting rid of my draft picks from 2016-23 is smart. It just hasn't been proven to work. Rams have no direction they are literally winging it. And its funny because they are getting applauded on this site but they have literally made similar moves to what Jerry has done in the past that we kill him for. Trading a 1st for Roy Williams....trading up to get Mo....spending 50 million on Brandon Carr.........drafting a running back high and spending max money to keep him....they are literally running their team like Jerry except them putting their future in the hands of a young OC actually worked for them.

We had Marinelli in the defensive room. McCarthy srafted diggs and Gallimore in one draft
