If anyone is curious.

With Wentz falling off a cliff this year, I was wondering how the three main 2016 QBs numbers compared after the last 48 games or 3 full seasons equivalent

Here are the results

Passer rating
  1. Prescott 95.63
  2. Goff 93.25
  3. Wentz 92.44

Passing yards
  1. Goff 13579
  2. Prescott 12775
  3. Wentz 11931

Passing TDs-Ints
  1. Wentz 57 (91-34)
  2. Prescott 40 (72-32)
  3. Goff 39 (80-41)
YPA
  1. Prescott 7.7
  2. Goff 7.6
  3. Wentz 6.9

I suspect that if we ran these numbers for all starting QBs over their last 3 season equivalent, we'd find all three of these guys in the 12-18 range in the league, but Dak would come out in the lead by a somewhat small margin.

Just passing along raw data.
Make with it what you want

Why did you leave out win / loss records? Some of us don't care about Dak's stats because they're not resulting in enough quality wins. They only only look good for Dak and his crusade to score a new contract.

Here you go, win / loss records for the last 3 seasons. Not so impressive, is it?

Wentz - 17-21-1
Goff - 31-16
Dak - 20-17

Lets throw in playoff records while we're on the subject of Dak and his impressive statistical accomplishments:

Dak - 1-3
Wentz - 0-1, he was injured his rookie season and missed the playoffs and super bowl
Goff - 4-2, which includes a loss in the super bowl

Not much difference between the three to me. Two of the three, Goff and Wentz, are getting unloaded because their $30M+ contracts are toxic and they are not worth the money. So, hopefully Jerry will not make it three for three and give Dak $35-40M/year. Don't cave, Jerry. You are bidding against yourself. Dak can't even pass a physical until maybe July or Aug at the earliest.

No team is paying Dak anywhere near what he wants if he were an UFA. Let Dak test the market for himself.

This thread has no agenda one way or the other. I was just curious how it would shake out.

I'm fine if you want to throw in team stats to an individual QB thread.
I will say, however, they are not playing golf or tennis.

What surprised me was how close these guys are even when you include the putrid Wentz season this year.
No matter how we shake it, these are not elite numbers for full raw stats or efficiency for any of the three.

That's what surprised me.

Very interesting numbers, but this isn't done in a vacuum.

It's hard to put real analysis into this because of so many chaotic factors, but it's kind of telling.

Considering the teams around them, this makes Wentz look way better.
He was truly awful this year though.
I used the 3 most recent 48 games to smooth it out some, as anyone can have a single crap year.
I think, in general, when you assess how a player is doing, you don't look back much more than 3 seasons.
I'm going to guess that Wentz reverts to the mean going forward and that 2020 was an anomaly. But we'll find out soon enough.

All three of those passer ratings are really average though.....surprising.

The point is that aside from his fan club absolutely no one would care if Dak threw for 10000 yards a season if the team still finished 8-8 and missed the playoffs.

Agree.
Just look at NFL league-leading passer Winston last year.

Btw, that applies to any QB.
Stats wise...usually you can look at two numbers combined to see how a player is doing

nah.they are being unoaded because their team thinks they are not going to the SB with those 2 at QB.if they we were still playing well they would not be traded.

Those three QBs are pretty much average. If you had a hypothetical league of three teams playing each other with just those 3 QBs, the long term average for win-loss would be .500 for each of them. None of them are difference makers in the long run. Dak playing his best beats Wentz and Goff, same with Goff playing his best beats Dak and Wentz, same with Wentz playing his best beats Goff and Dak. Dak at his best against Goff or Wentz at his best is a tossup.

No team wants to pay $30M+ for mediocrity. Except for Jerry maybe. We will see. Dak is a fan favorite and the players love him. While fantastic, it means nothing chasing a super bowl.

Looking at the position where they were drafted. I think the Cowboys definitely got the bargain

Huh? Goff and Wentz are solely being unloaded because of their ridiculous contracts. No way to spin that any other way. Goff and Wentz are not worth $30M+. I doubt the Rams think Stafford (minus 2 1st round picks) and the Eagles think Hurts will lead them to the promised land in the next two years.
