Would you take 3 years of Rodgers or 4 of Dak?

You're only getting Sam Darnold and not the rest of the mess he had with the Jets

Put Darnold with this team or any other team with weapons and he would be legit.

Having said that I would not sign Darnold or any other "good" QB to the deals we have seen recently.

I think the days of paying average QBS are over after what happened to Goff and Wentz. Teams have realized how stupid it is to pay for potential.
When a generational QB is made to look like a bum in the SB by a superior team, it makes you think if its even worth it now a days to pay 35M or mire for one single player..

Heck, even Russell wilson hasn't sniffed a SB after his pay day.
True, I don't disagree with anything you said. I do agree strongly you don't pay for potential. That's true.

Just out of curiosity would you, or anyone else on this board, take Cam Newton for 5 or 6 million for the next 3-5 years?

I've thought about that scenario. Cam isn't the greatest but he's an above average starter, well a starter, and saving 30-35 million at the QB position would be tempting. Especially if we drafted for his replacement. Just curious what others would think of that.

At that price? Of course! Use the rest of the money on defense like the best safety and the best DE on the market and i guarantee we make noise if Cam plays as a game manager

I'm a Dak fan but that scenario would be tempting. I've also thought about something similar with Darnold. If the Jets offered us 3 first rounders and Darnold for Dak then I think you have to take that deal.

I'll take a young standout Prescott any day than that smug cry baby Wodgers whose record for the NFC championship games is notorious for the past 16 years.

It is not happening. Rodgers and MM are not working together again. Rodgers does not respect him as a coach. So, you would have to get rid of Dak and MM..... and lord knows how many drafts picks to pry him out of GB.

Tough call man..

It's like choosing who the best qb in Cowboys history is..Staubach or Hutchinson

Great thread..really gets ones brain thinking

its actually more nuanced then you make it seem and your attempt at sarcasm was actually not even original or all that funny. While Rodgers is playing at an mvp level and on the surface it seems like a no brainer- he is still 37 years old with a game that relies on his elite ability to throw on the run.

he’s has accuracy that’s off the charts but just because brees and Brady have shown an ability to play into their 40s does not mean that in 2 years or even a year Father Time can’t come calling. meanwhile passing on dak right now is passing on likely what’s to be a decade of high level top 10 qb play. The thinking being that if we get dak signed now and he continues to play at a high level it’s a high probality that dak gets another contract after this one

On top of that there’s also question marks about how far this team is actually away....the defense needs a complete retooling and is a 4 year windows with dak better than a 3 year window when the team needs 2 off seasons to compete. Add in the fact that there’s again a virtual training camp so brining knows a new qb when year 1 could be a throw away is tricky.

But yeah nice try at a lame *** joke

that is what I am thinking, also I think rodgers doesnt like dallas lol, he always seems to play dallas like it is his own personal SB and he has to beat them.
I might give 1 1st for him, but no more than that.

While the sample size on aging future HOF QBs is small, it does indicate that the declining future HOFer is the better option.

Just curious and I’m a dak supporter but taking a pulse of the fan base here say Rodgers was a free agent and could be had for 3 years vs dak at 4-5 with less guaranteed- who would u take

if money wasn't an issue as we know it is, I am a Dak fan too, But I'd take 3 years of Rodgers.

Not if you can't block for him.. Which we can't.

Rodgers. Ultimately, A quarterback doing it once raises the chances of him doing it again. Whereas Dak is basically holding a lottery ticket among 20-some not-elite-yet qbs.
