This is sad news. He was an effective coach and a good guy. At one point Tex Schramm was considering hiring him as HC around '85 when he was wondering if Landry would retire. RIP, Marty.

Fired from his last job with SD after going 14-2, because he lost to Tom Brady. Crazy.

RIP Marty!! He had a lot of winning seasons with SD!! I couldn't believe they fired him after a 14-2 season!!
My Dad died from Alzheimer's...it's a horrible disease I wouldn't wish on anyone!!
