Me too but if we can't get him I am all for A Darius Washington. The guy has very good instincts.

My only knock on him is size. Hopefully they can move him around like Honey badger and let him dominate

He's 6-0, close to 200 lbs.

Or is this one of those 6-0's that's really 5-10?

I understand that but the Bucs safety that was drafted out of University of Minnesota whose father is former NFL CB did very well this year and the knock on him was his size. I can't remember his name.

Nope. Dont want a rookie safety. Not for this team anyway. But I do like Grant.

What kind of FA safety you think you are going to get given we'll have some cap constraints after tagging/signing Dak?

I dont believe them being the poor cash strapped Cowboys. They can peddle that to somebody else.

Cash poor or cash rich has nothing to do with it. They aren't going to have the cap space to go out and be active in signing really good players in FA.

Per Over the Cap, Cowboys have $18 million in cap space based on the rumored league base cap of $180.5 million. That's without Dak. Where's the cap space to sign one of the better safeties in FA?

For example, Anthony Harris and Justin Simmons are arguably the two best Ss available in FA. Those guys are going to get deals that will be way out of our range.

Winfield was 5’9 203. Bob Sanders was 5’8 206 and hit like a Mack truck.

It can be done.

I like Washington. But he’s behind Grant and Moehrig for me.

I really like this breakdown as a former safety this all is legit football.

Grant was only a 2 star HS recruit who probably weighed about 170 pounds.
It's how you end up with a redshirt at UCF then high round draft option.

But it's also a very system specific fit.
Grant is not a big-time tackler but he doesn't hide or get small.
He's very much a single high guy who covers lots of ground with positioning and IQ.
He understands the schemes on both sides of the ball.

I think Richie Grant would start next year in Dallas as the FS and be OK.
He'd definitely improve with more NFL film study and get better over the next few seasons.

I'd be fine with grant at 44.

I like Moehrig more. because he brings a little more size and shock but I think those are the top 2 "Dallas-fit" safeties.

Again Washington is both very short and well under 200 pounds.
He's more Jourdan Lewis than Bob Sanders.
Winfield is getting a lot of love because they just a won a SB but he had the highest QB Rating allowed of any DB in the NFL this year.

I was shocked Washington came out.
I would have liked to see him next year minus Moehrig playing less slot and more single high.

And people that "move money" end up in bad straights like the Saints and Eagles who did this and now are in cap trouble likely staring at cutting some good players, etc.

And Dak's long term contract still would carry a big cap hit in year 1, likely in excess of $22 million or so.

Prepare yourself, the Cowboys are not going to be overly active in FA. If they are, that's because they did some dumb things like restructuring Elliott's contract, for example.
