Fair enough by looking at this past year I don't think much can be attained by it when dealing with the massive injuries this team had. 9 different OL combos, 4 QB playing on the season. Defensively I think has been in need of help but I think under Marinelli was a little less of an issue with his bend but don't break as opposed to a more aggressive style that lead to giving up a lot more big plays under Nolan. I think Nolan tried to do to much early on and the weakness became glaring. Run defense was the worst I have seen which I constantly gave opposing offense great down and distance situation and kept our defense on their heels. Like many I want to see a heavy influx on defense
I've been meaning to post this comment during the last month of the season.
I think the Cowboys overused the" 4 QBs in one season" excuse - and many fans picked up the mantra. It wasn't like each of them started 3 games each. Denucci started one, Gilbert started one (and that should have been a victory). Dalton started 9 of the 11 games after Prescott when out in game 5.

I get that but fact is 4 QB started and Cowboys missed post season by 1 game, Dinucci lost a game and showed he was no where close to being ready for the NFL. Gilbert played well but still a loss and now that is 2 games. In the end 4 QB played it is fact you can spin it however you choose but when any team is forced into playing 4 QB chances are things are not going well.

I think most players CAN win a SB. The question is WILL they win one.

lol just stop dude. You’re now twisting the argument.

this post was about people only using wins as a means to evaluate how good a QB is.

not about QB pay scales.

Dak is also a far better QB than all of them except Marino of course.

Either way. You are now twisting the argument. So, you’re either purposefully twisting the narrative or you’re obtuse. Which one is it?

Dan Marino is a far far far far better QB than all the QB’s I listed. Yet all those other QB’s have Super Bowl titles and Dan Marino doesn’t.

Facts

The salary aspect is relevant because what's being discussed is SB wins.

If a guy like Marino (elite QB) never won a SB, what makes you think Dak can? Football is the ultimate team sport.

Dak's best bet was to win a SB while being paid chump change but that ship has sailed..

Just ask Russell wilson if salary doesn't matter in today's NFL.

The only QBs worth 35M or more are Rodgers and Mahomes and even they cant overcome bad teammates.

Do the names Terrence Steel and Brandon Knight mean anything to you?

Mahomes is over rated by the media and so many fans. He’s a gifted sandlot QB. He extends the play perhaps as well as any of these mobile type QB’s.

And while not really a running QB kills defenses scampering for 1st downs and additional yardage. He’s very entertaining to watch and will keep the Chiefs on top for years to come if he stays healthy but he’s human like everyone else.

And it was proven he can be stifled like all of the great ones can be with pressure. He’s not invincible .

Dak will beat him in the SB to prove that he is the best QB in the league.

No the salary aspect isn’t relevant to the point being made by the other poster who constantly brings up the wins line, like it’s a rational argument about how good a QB is or is not.

I was specifically questioning that line of thinking.

not the overall argument about whether Dak can or cannot win a super bowl.

you’re twisting the argument.

thanks for admitting that even the best QB’s can’t overcome bad teammates. Maybe you’re finally starting to open your eyes a bit. I’ve been saying that for years when people
Want to blame Dak after every loss because of the QB wins argument I was just questioning.

So again, thanks for mentioning that all QB’s need help to win.

if you want to discuss the overall question on Whether Dak can or cannot win a super bowl
And bring up salary, don’t quote my posts with that nonsense when I’m questioning another posters point that has nothing to do with that.

Btw, the cowboys went 13-3, and won the first overall seed in the conference, with Dak as starting QB, and while paying a QB a high salary contract. And having some cap space to boot.

Literally one play away from making it to the NFC title game. One bounce of the ball.

but folks like y’all want to play revisionist history like there’s no chance to have a competitive team if he gets a contract extension.

I’m not buying the lies.

he has literally already proven that he can lead a team to being one of the best in the league, while that team is carrying a large QB contract. But you want to pull the wool over peoples eyes and pretend that didn’t and can’t happen.

Everyone. Let’s cut to the chase.

Dak has already proven he can be the starting QB on a team that is carrying a large QB contract. And take that team to a #1 seed and be one play away from an NFC title game.

Dak is even better now, than he was then.

But people on this board want to sell the fantasy land bull crap that if Dak gets an extension, there’s no way the cowboys could come close to competing for a championship again.

It’s nonsense. It’s lies. There’s literally historical precedent that they’re wrong. Yet they want to sell the fallacy to people anyway and get them to try and believe it.

Don’t believe it.

There is one possible silver lining for those of us that don't want to see Dak get 35+ mil a year. Others have brought this up. When the new TV deal is stuck and the cap spikes more than usual. That's if the cap spikes. As long as Dak is closer to 10% of the cap instead of 20%, all you have to do is build the team around him. Similar to how the 49ers got there last year. Jimmy G. was getting paid, just not killing the cap. The problem is, Jerry seems to have a hard time doing that.

Dak has played 4 non injured seasons.

2 of the 4. The cowboys made the divisional round and were competitive and effectively a play away from reaching an NFC title game.

One season in 2016 the cowboys had Romo under contract fully. A high dollar QB contract.

another season in 2018 the cowboys still had dead cap hit of 9 million for Romo. And another 8 million for Dez Bryant.

the cowboys has 30 freaking million dollars in dead cap hit in 2018 and still made the divisional round and almost an NFC title game.

So both seasons the cowboys made the divisional round and were a play or two away from a conference title game. They had a lot of money sunk into QB or a ton of dead money on the cap.

But some posters here would have people believe that Dak signing a long term deal would hold the cowboys back. Like it would guarantee they aren’t a competitive team that can compete.

It’s crap.

The cowboys can absolutely positively be a team capable of competing for a championship with Dak under center and with signing a new deal. It’s proven. There is historical precedent for it being the case.

literally 50% of Dak’s seasons played have ended with the cowboys in the divisional round and within one score of being in an NFC title game while carrying large QB contracts and having a bunch of dead cap money. That is a FACT

what they need to do is draft defense a bit better and stop overpaying the players who DONT DESERVE the money. Like the Zeke and Jaylons and the Tyrone Crawford’s of the world.

PLEASE stop this stuff. I beg this board. No one is haters. Everyone has opinions. Also Mahomes. Had no line, ran for his life and still made incredible throws that didn’t get caught. Doesn’t mean he sucks

Doesnt mean he sucks by no means. I think the point is Dak lost his Oline, had a RB with fumblitus, and He was being blamed while putting up 38 a game.

The point is even the great Mahomes needs his line to show up. If he can get 45 and "lay and egg" then Dak can get 38 to 40.

The Dallas Jerry's won't be competing for a championship regardless of whether they pay Dak or not. That being said, if the goal is to build a competitive team, then shelling out large contracts for one average QB isn't going to get it done. Not when the requirement is that we need to have pro-bowl level tackles and offensive guards we need great wide receivers who can get separation, we need TE's that can also catch and get separation, we need a defense that can stop the run and pass and play like Tampa did this last weekend. That's literally the requirement being asked for while you are contemplating whether or not to pay an average QB 40 million a year.

In 2018 the Cowboys vs Rams the Cowboys were dominated in that game. Just because it was 8 point loss doesn't mean they had a chance to win. At no time in that game did the Cowboys come close to winning that game. As far as paying dak, that wont make it easier to go to the superbowl. In fact will be more difficult.

I'd rather them bring Kap in, than watch the disappointing Dak Stats Show for 5 years.
I have nothing against Dak personally. I think he's a wonderful person.
I just do not think that Dak has the smarts/skill to get a team all the way to a SB.

When was Dak a highly paid QB that almost brought Dallas to a title game???? Check your facts.

Oh, and nice that you can predict the future with your pro Dak assertions that he will lead the team to the promise land when recent history indicates that all he can lead Dallas to is a personal payday and no playoffs.

Wrong. So very wrong.

the Rams game was not a blowout. One or two plays either way and cowboys could have pulled it out. And that’s with the defense allowing 280 yards rushing.

By all means also ignore all the other points made in my post because they don’t fit your narrative though.

Check your facts. In 2016 the cowboys had Romo on the roster and his full contract. Therefore they had a highly paid QB on the salary cap.

I said that clearly in my post.

don’t tell somebody to check their facts when you clearly have no damn clue what you’re talking about.

And yes I also addressed the playoff situation. Dak has played 4 healthy seasons and made the playoffs 50% of the time and reached the divisional round 50% of the time.

who knows if they make the playoffs this season if he is healthy or not.

But by all means say “no playoffs” despite it being completely wrong.

It’s not my fault if you’re myopic or have a short memory. Some of us aren’t dealing with that limitation though.

Not a blowout the cowboys were dominated. If this or if that. The cowboys could have pulled it out if they scored more points or if the stopped the rams. They didn't they were dominated. Watch the games objectively.
