Should the Cowboys feel forced to reach for a defender with the 10th pick?

Amen.
I'll take Pitts,Slater,Lance or Sewell over any defender at 10.

or Fields and Lance if by some miracle they are there at 10.
Now a huge fan of Lance tbh. I might actually rather take Mac Jones. I think Jones is a bit safer. However Im generally very skeptical of QB's outside the top 5. I tend to have that bias

Sewell I sprint to the podium

I like Farley alot. I think he becomes a major playmaker at CB, he'll be a guy that can create TO's. Him, Slater ans Pitts are really close for me. I value Pitts more than some. TE's like tend to be TD machines in the pros

No you should never reach.

If you feel you desperately need defense help then you trade back. If there is no worth trade back offers then take the top talent. Im open to an offensive lineman seeing how we still have yet to find a LG or OC worthy of replacing Fredbeard as well as Tyron Smith long term future is very much in question. Also our tight end depth is average at best. Would not totally be against taking Kyle Pitts. Gives up the option to trade Gallup for defensive help while keeping a high powered receiving lineup.

No reason to reach
There will be 10th pick quality defenders there

Nope. If someone like Slater or Chase drops and is clearly BPA you take them.

As we saw last year, this team won't hesitate and reach to fill a need if a better player is available on their board.

Not if Farley or Surtain is off the board.
I don’t think both will
Atleast 2, maybe 3 QB’s will go before us, probably one of them goes as well as Parsons and Sewell
Pitts and chase will go

Time to get over your using the 10th pick on a QB. It's not going to happen. Dak is supposedly healing well and ahead of schedule. Jerry and Stephen want him back and are working out a deal for Dak to sign.

I think 1 will be there. Cant really say who, then seem neck and neck amongst evaluators right now. I think its likely 4 QB's and 2 WR's go ahead of us. All 3 or Sewell, Slater and Pitts as well. Pitts is the best TE prospect since Vernon Davis blew everyones mind. And Pitts is a better football than Davis was at the time

Agreed. That was a breath of fresh air. If let’s say Farley surtain or parsons aren’t there. I can see a move for ot or even pitts.

Shultz is probably tradeable for a mid rounder. Rookie deal, 60 catch season.

One year left on his rookie deal, and TE's never seem to have trade value. However I still think you could get a refund of his original pick if you wanted to move him

I don’t see why, personally I would go OL this year maybe 1 OT and LG. Build in the trenches and you can’t lose.

I know realistically that they won't draft a QB so I dont really need to get over it.
But it would be a huge mistake not to.
Last I heard Dak was behind schedule in his healing.

Exactly.
People that dismiss taking Pitts just simply don't understand how elite he is going to be.

And if want to talk fits, one thing we lack in terms of skill players is a alpha in redzone. That's Pitts all the way, and thats alot of TD's that would have FG. Difference between W's and L's alot of times

Pitts and Slater are on my short list at 10,cant dismiss talent because they play Offense.Slater could solve a lot of OL problems because he can play multiple positions at a high level.

I think this is obvious. Don't reach for a player at #10. There is going to be a quality player available. Maybe it is not Farley or Surtain, it will be another player. I do think if all the top players are gone except for the QBs, the Cowboys will find someone willing to trade up. Having multiple 2nd round picks and a later 1st round pick is a better situation than reaching for a player 10 spots to soon. With a trade down they can draft a CB, DT, and LB with their 1st 3 picks.

If Pitts is there at 10 and there are no trade partners and Sewell is gone as well, then I take Pitts without hesitation. Sure the Cowboys have Schultz and Jarwin, but they are just TEs. Pitts is going to be a game changer, a matchup nightmare. I would not take another WR, unless I was willing to trade Cooper (I am but I don't think the Joneses are). And if I do take a WR, he needs to run a legitimate 4.3 40.
