Dallas Cowboys: How much will Gallimore and Hill impact DT decisions?

After ranking at or near the bottom of the NFL in both interior pressure rate and run-stopping, it’s become clear the Dallas Cowboys need to improve their interior defensive line this offseason. How they go about upgrading is a topic for debate.

With both free agency and the draft at their disposal, the Dallas Cowboys have a few options to explore. They could opt for a veteran free agent who they can depend on from Day 1, or they could go the cheaper route and lean on the draft to fill their needs.

And if we’re all being completely honest, they could probably do both given the horrific state of affairs at the defensive tackle spot. The question to ponder today is how much the Dallas Cowboys’ young defensive tackles, Neville Gallimore and Trysten Hill, factor into this whole thing.

Should the presence of Neville Gallimore and Trysten Hill impact the Dallas Cowboys decisions?
We know defensive tackles take time to develop. They aren’t like linebackers and running backs that you can just plug and play as rookies. Even elite prospects picked in the top of the first round struggle making much of an impact as rookies, and often take 1-3 years to really establish themselves as assets.

If we could somehow get a disrupter at that position then it could be a quick fix for our defense.

For some reason the Cowboys have never put a premium on it. Maybe it's because those guys are hard to find.

Outside of La Roi Glover, Ratliff, and Hatcher for a year or 2 we haven't had a guy there that can cause chaos.

I think Gallimore and Hill have a role in the rotation but Dallas needs a DT who can create havoc up the middle. Right now it tends to be a stalemate is viewed as a win up front. Cowboys need to find that DT who can create pressure up the middle and still be able to hold his own in stopping the run.

Hill was showing signs why he was a 2nd round pick. Though many on here will not agree, as usual. Gallimore showed flashes for a rookie in a bad scheme.
So take into account of the poor scheme and Nolan. And look how much better Quinn "should" be. Yes they have a role, and possibly a big role. However, that needs to be in a rotation.
They still need a top FA veteran player, as well as a top player in the draft to complete that rotation.

Woods is not the answer, as he seemed to have dropped off the past 2 years. But was last year also the scheme holding him back. I think he had too many years to step up, and time to move on. So a FA and the draft is the way to go. Do not be surprised if McCoy returns to be that FA.
I do think they try to keep Woods since he is a RFA, but do not think he makes the team.

They also have Justin Hamilton that seems to be coming on a little. And though they gave Houston like a 2022 6th or 7th round pick, but he is a FA, in Ankou. Maybe he returns. Both of these guys can be rotational role type players for 4 or 5 snaps a game or more.

I thought the Cowboys had it right when they signed McCoy and Poe. If they can sign two starters yet again....this defensive line will be improved if the guys can actually play.

That at least showed that we understand that there's a major need there.

I'd have no issue with that on a team friendly deal....and I know both parties at one point seemed interested...seems like that has died down lately but who knows.

My big issue with signing the older vet guys, they don’t seem like top dogs. Not leaders or captain players. McCoy is that.

Yeah I will for sure say the McCoy signing represented that. I think they had good intentions with Poe...if they don't address that position in free agency and the draft....I just don't know what their approach is.....
I want Barmore. Better prospect than both Pitts and Chase, just not a glory position.

I'd have no issue with him...10 seems a bit early but I really would have no issue. To me you an never have too many D or O linemen. I'd draft them every single year. Hill and Gallimore surely wouldn't stop me from addressing it. Would much rather have him than Pitts for sure.

No impact at all. I want a DL like the Cowboys had in the 90's. Deep and rotated all game to stay fresh.

I like the idea of a rotation of solid players but we definitely need a major upgrade in talent.

We were told Marinelli would have a deep rotation of players who would come after the opposing Qb's in waves.

The problem was, as we saw, fresh legs on players who simply aren't all that good, won't get you the desired results.

We need more talent across the line for sure.

I am trying to see anyone in the draft that does that. And I cant. Barmore maybe but he's terrible value at 10.
