How do fans determine whether it’s the QB or team holding them back?

I'm fine if we swing and miss on a QB. I have no problem being terrible.

It's the being mediocre that upsets me. We can't escape it and i'd rather swing for the fence then just keep doing the secret sauce method of mediocrity.

Dak needs far too much around him and we have several bad deals already on the book.

Dallas needs a mini rebuild and the biggest shortcut for this team is trying their hand in the draft at QB.

Signing Dak will keep us mediocre. We have the pieces to win the division and possibly win a wildcard game but him wanting a 3 or 4 year deal making that much money may open a 1 year window for us during that contract.

IMO... We are just like Seattle except they have an actual elite QB. They are a tad bit better defensively and we have a better offensive unit then they do.

The only bad deals we have are Zeke and Jaylon imo (and they can already get out from Jaylon's contract if they want). I think the Cowboys can be a contender this year if everyone comes back reasonably healthy and they have a good defensive draft.

Lawrence is a bad deal. He’s good but doesn’t have an impact that validates his deal.

Also, I like Amari Cooper but 20 million a year for a WR is a joke and I’m a fan of his.

Jaylon and Zeke are awful and I think Tyron and La’el need to actually play because if they are riding pine half the season then I don’t care how good their contract is if they aren’t dependable.

Tyron and La'el were hurt last year but not ready to call those bad deals yet. If they have another season like that then I would reconsider. We'll just have to agree to disagree on Amari and D Law but even Amari's deal they can trade him right now and save $14 million. The notion that it will take three years to rebuild the team because of bad contracts doesn't make sense to me. The Cowboys can get out from under any of these contracts if not now, at the latest after the 2021 season.

This is holding back the Cowboys. What you're talking about are just symptoms of the disease.

I love this. Pretty sums up the last 25 years. Jethro and his Cheapskate Son. Lol

Maybe this will help you. In the last 30 years that hasn't been a Super Bowl winner that didn't have a top 10 defense. The first team I think of that had a average or below average QB that won a Super Bowl is the ravens with Dilfer but they also had a record setting #1 defense. I can't recall any team with a good QB and bad defense that won the Super Bowl. The last 4 years the Cowboys defense hasn't been very good, especially in 2020 being 32nd defense. A good QB helps but a top 10 defense also is needed.

Colts was prolly the worst, and they stood up and suddenly stopped the run throughout the playoffs.

I didn’t state it specifically but I wasn’t referring to just SB champions.

I said good teams with bad qb’s or bad teams with good qb’s. Which a good team by that definition would not necessarily be a champion.

Like Steve Young on Tampa. Or the Lions with Stafford. Chargers with Rivers.

On the flip side. Giants with Hostetler.
