Thing about Collins is, he doesn't fit the type of linebacker Quinn likes.

Quinn said he will make players fit his scheme and what they do well. That’s what got Nolan fired. We’ve had enough input from DC’s around here.

Would any coach now days admit that their ego is too big to pigeon holes players to a certain role? Not even Garrett would say it but of course he did it.

I think when Quinn was hired, Collins is off their radar. He is more of a 3-4 OLB.

I think that Collins could possibly be used in a similar manner to how Tremaine Edmunds is used in Buffalo. Collins is pretty fluid and quick for a 260 pound LB.

I’ve actually seen a lot of comps from Collins to LVE in college just FYI.
I have heard the same comp, a big, finesse type. Most project him as a 3-4 OLB, but some think he can play the strong-side LB in the 4-3.

I think Quinn prefers the smaller, faster linebackers.

Such as? Because I don’t see that all...nor was it the position he played in college. Hell, zone coverage is 1 of his better assets.

I think the best comp (if he reaches his full potential) is Anthony Barr. College tweener that has settled in nicely as a 4-3 LB.

Barr has been an ok NFL player, but is his skillset top 10 worthy? If the team was interested in Collins, moving back would make more sense.

I like Collins in a trade down scenario the best here. That kid reminds me of Ray Lewis.

For Dallas, Collins could be the Mike.

I'd like for Dallas, to draft a guy who can play MLB, and any other LBs be hybrids (6'1, 225 type) with speed to burn.

Oh I never said I would take him at 10...just pointing out that he’s most likely to be drafted as an off ball LB than a 3-4 pass rusher

Watch Jabril Cox. He's probably the best cover 'backer in the class (although JOK has something to say about that), and isn't a total liability against the run either. He's already got the hardest part of playing NFL linebacker down, so I think he's a near lock to be a good player.
