To be fair, even with his bum leg going into the season him and LVE were highly touted. What changed? our DT position went from weak to weaker and both of them were nuetralized by offensive linemen. We tried to address it with Mccoy and Poe but both were fails. We definitely blew it but I think we should try again.

I was really impressed with Devin White’s play this year and thought we should compare him with another highly touted lb coming out of college in Jaylon. Keep in mind that Devin played in 15 games vs Jaylon’s 16.

Total tackles
Jaylon 154
Devin 140

Solo tackles
Jaylon 89
Devin 97

Sacks
Jaylon 1.5
Devin 9 (wow!)

Tackles for loss
Jaylon 5
Devin 15

QB hits
Jaylon 4
Devin 16

The Bucs proved that spending a top 5 pick on a lb is not a mistake.
The only thing that compares to these two is 4 and 5 in their jersey numbers.

It’s not a mistake unless it turns out to be a mistake (2/5 top 5 picks turn out to be ‘mistakes’)

No sir,, please do not try and compare these two..
This is becoming quite comical...
Jaylon vs Devin White...lol
whats next
Jaylon vs
Roquan Smith
Zach Cunningham
even Joe Shoebert ....lol
You guys that just think you can look at numbers somehow replaces the time it actually takes to actually watch the talent and understand that stats are not the reality of what real talent is.
Watch how Jaylon leads the league in assists,,, if you like stats you can jump all over that one.

If you are going to do that comparison, you should compare the DTs playing in front of said LBs as well.

Jaylon has his issues, but not all of them are on him, Dallas' DT play was toward the bottom of the NFL this season.

Yeah, but does White lead the league in celebrations after being involved in a gang tackle after a 7 yard run though?

I didn't think so.
My favorite is the 4th down fist when they stop them a half a yard shy and then the opposing team goes for it and gets it with ease.

eh, I discount total tackles b/c the cowboys probably gave up way more 1st downs on defense and had more plays to defend. If you could come up with %ratios of those stats, they would take on a more accurate meaning. Every one of those stats should be divided by their total snaps number. I suspect we would see an even greater disparity between the 2.

Not sure how anyone can defend Smith. Too many times I’ve seen him half assing or like he is afraid to hit someone

There is no comparison. White is a dominant force on the field, always around the ball, making plays at the LOS.

Jaylon and Dak are the whopping boys.

Jaylon isn't a bad or terrible player. He is an average player but here is above average when a LB that plays good is on there field with him. When bad LB play is beside him he tries to do too much to cover it up and makes some mistakes.

Why do you think Jaylon was good when a healthy Lee or Leighton was on the field?

LB does nerd too be addressed cause Jaylon is the only LB that is healthy and dependable every game but the real problem is DT. Fix the DT spot and give Jaylon a LB that can stay healthy and you will seem drastic improvement.

TB also had a very healthy defense around White to ALLOW him to do his assignments. Brady had a healthy OL all year as well. So that in turn helps the defense.

Dallas had 2nd, 3rd and 4th team players at many positions except WR. And even they had some injuries here and there to hold them back some. So NO player could really do their assignments.
White is used much more creatively than we’ve ever used jaylon
We rush him up the A or B gap all the time
I’ve always felt he could be much more effective off the edge

They also have a pretty good DC and defensive players surrounding him.

Drafting linebackers early is frowned upon now so I wanted to show the production you can get from him. Not sure any other MLB in the league had anything close to 9 sacks.
I thought smith's forte was sacking the qb,at least that's what I read here.."let him rush the qb,that's what he does so well"...not.

J Smooth is absolute garbage. Some of you clearly do not watch him during the plays. He was putrid last year and even worse the year before. Even the Cowboy shills have stopped defending him. But Jerry loves him and is in buisness with him so we get to keep on sucking.
