I have been a huge Dak fan, but to me, over the last 2 years, he has the stats( and the turnovers, as a team ), but not the wins, especially in big games( see the Philly game two years ago).

Dak is also asking to be paid to much! Doesn’t want to give us a home team discount. He makes millions in commercials because he is the QB of the Cowboys!

With, the Non Exclusive Franchise Tag, Dak can go out on the market and see what he is really worth. If another team gives him an offer, we can match the offer, or let him walk. If we let him walk we get 2 FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICKS!!

Don’t over pay Dak, he has not proven he is a difference maker. This year there are a lot of QB options + the draft picks will help build the defense.
I agree not overpay Dak! But the problem is he won't settle for anything more than top money. After that 2016 season Dak has had some really terrible games for a guy who wants to be considered top of the market. Dallas is better off moving on from Dak and drafting a QB.

as a team going forward your correct. BUT there's a catch. If and only if Dak concedes to a longer deal will we not be cash strapped. Otherwise, we gotta move on.

Yeah but the Wentz trade turns into a 1 if he just plays a certain amount of games.

I meant to say a conditional 2nd. My point was if Dak ends up leaving for just a comp 3 that is a huge failure by this franchise. If that pick turns into a 1st that just amplifies the failure.

What is the actual difference in cost for Dak between the exclusive and nonexclusive tags?

None. Either way it's a 20% increase from the previous years salary.

Thanks. That’s what I thought. I wasn’t sure if I was missing something.

At least Dallas wouldn’t be negotiating against themselves in using it. I suppose the allure in using it for those that don’t want Dak is getting two firsts.

If you don't think you are going to get him signed to the deal you want or you are not quite sure if you really want him at that price then it is the only way to go.

At this point I think I just give him a 3 year deal like he wants and keep the franchise option in the contract down the road

Only problem is that the non-exclusive tag isn't a true test of the free agent market b/c it is not just a contract but 2 1st round picks involved..........and Dak isn't going to play for a discount b/c his new team had to give up those picks. Its unlikely he would have any suitors.

My problem is his production dropped to Dalton like numbers against better competition.

Agree.
My main production problem always relates to wins and losses as a starter the last 2 years.

REGARDLESS of the excuses.

Two first round picks isn't that much if Dak makes a team a winner. It could very well be the 25th pick or later. Any team taking the chance isn't planning on the picks being top ten.

Cleveland is a good team. They won a playoff game last season.

Against Cleveland Dak threw for over 500 yards, completed over 70% of his passes, had 4 TD’s, 1 Int, averaged 8.7 yards per attempt, and had a passer rating of 112.9.

Those are not Dalton type numbers.

Most teams picking at the bottom of the round have a QB, and Dak isn't worth 2 first rounds picks anyway. He's 9-11 in his last 20 starts. So, he couldnt make us a winner with a loaded offense. Not sure why another team would look to him as a savior.

Well, you have your opinion. The Pats and 49ers could use a QB and have the rest of the team in place. Plus, you forget just how bad our defense was/is. I guess your dislike of Dak is personal since you'll conveniently overlook facts that don't support your narrative.

Yeah this is what I wanted to do last year but instead the Cowboys decided to hand all leverage back to Dak.

The Cowboys have been the good guys in these negotiations.. I guess they are hoping Dak or France will be nice to them in return lol.

Question: If we put the transition tag on Dak.. What’s his counter move? He can only find a trade partner correct?

This would show a lot of hands.. If someone signs Dak we get 2 firsts and freedom from that horrible deal. What’s the negative?
Dallas gets TWO FIRSTS for a QB You have Knighted as just "OK"?

HACK. HOW'S YOUR FOOT TASTE?

Good God, man.
