Bottom line is Jerry has bumbled the Dak negotiations

At 40 million or 41 million per year average, were at the ridiculous point. If that is truly where we are.

Jerry could have had this wrapped up for 35 million or a little less two years ago and 35 million just last year and he blew it. So if he has to pay upwards of 40 million, then he blew it.

On the surface, it looks like Dak cares about maximizing his money. If all this salary conjecture is really true. His determination to maximize his money 3 years from now with the TV contract shows again, that we will have to do this all over again, and the numbers will be even more crazy. If the rumors are true.

Problem is we have NO other options at the moment.

Cutting Dak for nothing is just dumb. Simply cant do that. You either sign Dak 3 years and work on his replacement during that time or you trade him.

Giving away the rights to Dak is NOT an option.

Here are the options I see that make any sense:

-Sign Dak, play out the next 3 years, continue to build the defense and team around the QB
-Sign Dak, at some point trade him while you build the defense and team around the QB
-trade him now before the draft

Options that make ZERO sense:

-Let Dak walk
-let Dak play on the tag this year and let him walk

Either way, this Jerry/Dak contract is to the point of total stupidity. Needs to be done with already one way or the other.

Here's the problem with what you laid out. You kept saying if the speculations are true and that's the thing. Nobody other than those who are actually in the negotiations know what the money amount is. Everything in articles or tweets is just speculations and not backed up by any first hand facts. All we know is Jerry and Stephen have said they really hope to get a deal done and Prescott has said the same thing.

Lol oh now he’s ok with getting rid of Dak.

I knew some of you would start seeing things my way..

I’m owed an apology now that my opinion is mainstream enough for some of you to finally accept it.
You know what bro, I'm not going to lie, you used to annoy me a little bit. But the more I think about it I am starting to see things the way you do. We need to purge the roster of bad contracts, bad attitudes and get some new talent in here. Signing Dak will be a 3 year deal of mediocrity and then we get the drama all over again. Trade Dak, get the draft capital, get a guy on a rookie deal either by drafting him or trading for Darnold and start the rebuild. The difference in the games will be a three game swing of being 8-8 to 5-11. Our roster is so bad and we have so many average players getting elite money that no QB can save us.

I'm man enough to admit you were on to something. If I was disrespectful in any discussions/arguments I do apologize for that. To be honest I don't think I was.

If we sign Dak to Mahomes type money like Fish reported he wants than we are pretty much done as a franchise.

The reality is there is a lot that we don't know.

I think Dak's representation switching agencies and Dak's injury have impacted these negotiations more than anything. Regardless, both sides have to want to get this thing done. Going months without speaking because one of the other sides feels "disrespected" is absolute lunacy. Jerry needs to look out for his franchise and Todd France needs to look out for his client.

This is just another case of people writing in articles or tweeting that Prescott feels or felt disrespected yet there is zero direct quotes from Prescott saying that but people keep repeating it like there is. Second it hasn't been months since both sides could have spoken. After July 15th last year until the day after the Super Bowl the Cowboys could not do any negot6iating with Prescott and it's not even been a month since the Super Bowl. .

he went against them because he don't trust them, actually nobody trust trust Easterby, not even JJ Watt, they have other issues that doesn't include Watson deal.

too bad. HE SIGNED A DEAL. The ink is barely dry and HE TOOK THE MONEY! Man alive...he needs to get over himself and his feelings. This is business. Now I am sure ownership is very lets say, unsavory...but reneging on what you signed 5 months into it is bad business.Maybe he can give back the bonus he received at signing.

Yeah it's so bad many nfl insiders were picking the Cowboys to be in the super bowl just 6 months ago.
I think if all of our FA pick ups were to pan out, like McCoy, Poe and our offense would have continued to play well then we were a talented team on paper. It was a brutal 6 months for us. McCoy got injured, Jaylon regressed, Poe never showed up, LVE was injured and ineffective, and the entire offensive line was injured.

Now going forward there's questions about Tyron and Collins future on the offensive line. Zeke is getting slower and fatter. On defense we need DTs, and a consistent DE opposite DLaw, entire secondary besides Diggs and still not sure what's going to show up at LB.

You seem to disagree with me. In your opinion do you feel if we sign Dak this is a super bowl quality roster or a playoff quality roster? In my opinion I feel this roster needs some work regardless of who plays QB.

No he wasn't. There were issues with him and Hopkins, then the guy Easyerby lied to Watson about giving him input, that he didn't even ask for.

He has every right to get out if he feels they're not holding up their end , just like owners do all the time.

Sorry but you can't lay the blame solely at the feet of JJ as he has certainly shown he is willing to overpay players at times with the likes of Zeke, Cooper, Lawrence, and J. Smith (not to mention most of the o-line). The blame also goes toward Dak and his agent as well as JJ made a viable contract offer at the start of 2019 which was reported to be in the $35M/year average but after the first 3 games against sub par teams, Dak and his agent decided to turn that deal down and start playing hardball with demands of more money and less years.

No you're not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's fun watching this board shift to what i've been saying for almost 2 years now about paying Dak. I'm really enjoying it.

I just hope the Jones's see things my way but I doubt they do.

They got smart with Demarco Murray, Demarcus Ware, and even my boy Dez.. Then they just suddenly got stupid again.

Now is the time to get us back on course and avoid this Dak deal.

We operated like a smart football team for a bit then we went straight back to country club when Zeke held out after getting suspended over and over and still paying him Gurley money.
