If Dak hits open market this year, does anyone think he would get 40m+ per year?

is it the cap or did their teams just realize they are not good QB's and can't lead their team to a SB....so let's just cut bait while we can?
goff did lead his team to a super bowl...so did jimmy g.

Today?

No. If the pandemic hadn't crushed a year of revenues for NFL teams? Maybe.

I don't think I'd pay him a contract with an AAV $40 million or more regardless of the situation.

if he was allowed to hit the FA market, I would not be shocked if Dak went to NYG with Garrett and gave them a short-term deal worth a lot less than what he's asking for in Dallas.... just to stick it to the Cowboys.

or maybe that's just me. I'd be petty like that :)
Perhaps Prescott's connection-relationship with Garrett (Jason no doubt helped tipped the scales with the Jones duo to keep Dak as the starter over Romo) combined with the Big Apple`s largesse history if a player succeeds on one of its teams.....
Dak could dip for that kind of deal

When your dream comes true and you have it as a recurring dream, but Prescott won't hit the free agent market.

Nope, nobody outside of Dallas thinks he's more than an average QB. For some reason, anyone that wears the Star automatically moves into the top-5 player at their position locally.
If Dak was to become a free age t next week, it would spark a bidding war. He would become the highest paid QB in NFL history. You should listen to NFL people talk, not the Sharpe's, SAS, Skips and the other screaming baboons, you'd know this. Kirwan laughs at the stupidity of the Cowboys fanbase that has so much hate for Dak.

Have to disagree my Elvis fan friend. Giving those 2 quarterbacks credit is like giving Wentz credit when the Egals won their first Superbowl.

~ A "blown call" against the Rams advanced them to the Superbowl instead of the Saints. The referee admitted it weeks later.

~ Shanahan was the new 49ers HC to lead them to the Superbowl in just 4 years. They were stinky prior to Shanahan's hiring.

He would get close but not 40M. Typically the own team pay more for qbs.

Seriously, fans ask the wrong question, “Is he worth that much?”

The market for starting QBs who are not on rookie contracts and are not just holding the spot as a bridge to the eventual starter they hope to find changes every year and is seldom based on what a guy is worth.

38-40 million per year now is at or near the top, but in 2-3 years as the new crop of young, successful starting QBs get signed to extensions or second contracts, it is unlikely to even be in the top 10.

The real questions that should be asked are, “Can we win with this QB if we improve the defense?” and “Is a better QB option available to us?”

When you extend a QB after his rookie deal you are pretty much making an educated guess. Unless its a guy like Mahomes with lots of early success.

But to answer your last questions...............Yes we can win with Dak if we improve the defense. And NO, a better option isnt available.

...$40M?...Yes I do...Unless he gets the 3 year deal he probably wants now. No matter, even at $40M /4yrs, the contract would be small compared to Future NFL QB contracts after the new NFL revenue money kicks in by 2023...JJ should have signed Dak 2 years ago(Dak only wanted a 4yr deal like his counterparts Goff and Wentz.)...I hope Dak stays because JJ & Company are not very good at picking QBs in the draft or elsewhere, especially under the Cap!

He’d get away from the toxic Cowboys fans who have about as much knowledge of football as a slug that’s for sure.
