Traded back and drafted who though?

Drafting Jaylon and Conner is revisionist history. Those moves are not holding us back. You are going to miss out on players. It happens. No one bats 100%. Drafting Lamb was smart and if they took the approach they did when drafting Lamb they would be in a lot better spot now.

And with as bad as our defense was...there was no one on defense that was going to help us last season. If they had took cornerback at #17 and wide receiver in the 2nd round would that have been better for you?

I
You're speaking to me as if I'm a member of the little hubbby wifey spat group. No thanks, those little quibbles bore me to tears.

Drafting Jaylon and Connor is holding us back, and in a big way.

Of course no one bats 100%. That's so obvious it didn't even need to be said. However, a bad draft philosophy comes back to haunt you over and over and over. Those 6-10/8-8/8-8/8-8 years w/ Romo were caused by a stupid draft philosophy. Lamb not helping us all that much is caused by a stupid draft philosophy. Not by him as a player, he's very good and I'm glad to have him. However, we now have such dire needs due to previous horrific drafting that the holes became even more glaring and ruined the season. More of that to come if we take Pitts because he's the BPA. Only complete morons use that as a standalone draft philosophy.

Wait what lol? How did you get that from what I said?
You said we couldn't build through FA, needed to build through the draft. That would take 3-5 years minimum. So, signing Dak to a short term high dollar contract would be exceedingly pointless since we'd be a mediocre team anyway.

None of the Dak fans care how Dak's contract will hurt the team. They're Dak fans, not Dallas Cowboys fans.

It needed to be stated because you're saying different things.

The drafting approach the Cowboys did with Lamb, Connor and Jaylon are all completely different.

Lamb was the highly touted draft pick that should've went much higher than he did but fell in the draft. Best player available approach.
Jaylon was the injured college player(Sean Lee, Bruce Carter, etc.) who fell in the draft and they picked too early.
Conner Williams was the highly rated linemen who fell in the draft and Cowboys got good value with.

What "draft philosophy" are you referencing?

Lamb didn't help us at all? That's a stretch.

Only morons use BPA as a standalone draft philosophy? Who the hell said that or does that lol? Clearly the Cowboys don't.

But I'll say this....if teams drafted more BPA then reaching based on need they'd be better off. We know the Cowboys in the 1st round have done better when going BPA than going based on need for sure. Ask Mo Claiborne and Taco Charlton.

It sure seems that way. Screw the rest of the team, pay Dak, make the boy happy while he hobbles around the field next season if he lasts that long after some 350 lb bastid lands on his nuts and bolts holding his foot togeather.

I never once said it would take 3-5 years minimum that sounds silly lol. Using this logic what's the point at all? We shouldn't draft a quarterback because it takes 3-5 years to build your team through the draft and by that time it will be time to re-sign the quarterback if he's worth re-signing.....Its the NFL....it doesn't take 3-5 years to build that's the crap Jerry and Jason Garrett programmed you guys to believe.

Its not that. Its just that I don't use Dak's contract as a excuse for why the Cowboys will fail or why they can't build a team. No one can convince me that Dak's contract will hurt this team anymore than Lawrence's, Cooper's, Zeke's and La'El Collins will.....just can't.

Where did Dak say he wanted reparations though? I tried googling it and couldn't find it where did he say that?

There are different definitions of that word, and although Dak may have never said that, that is how he must think.

That's my only point. If we had this plethora of talent....for instance how the Ravens have all these All Pro's and Pro Bowlers coming up? I could understand and probably even agree that giving Dak 40 million is not smart. But if you're telling me that we may have to get rid of contracts like Jaylon's, Collins, or Zeke's? Just doesn't scare me and I don't see any talent I'm afraid to lose on this roster aside from Lamb and Diggs and they are so far down the road that's not even a issue.

No, they wouldn't. BPA is pretty much purely fan stuff, not used by real teams. It's a patently stupid way to draft. Because you don't get better.

I can understand the one exception w/ Lamb. That's fine. But, it's been many more.

Williams fell due to injuries. And it's followed him.

Charlton was BPA. Mo was also. Those are failures using BPA.

Where has the $44 million figure.come from? Serious question. Surely it's nonsense and a non story right?

The one in the dictionary.

Hmmm......so basically you lied. Ok.

Conner Williams played in 16 games last year.

Taco Charlton wasn't BPA. Cowboys even came out and said they had TJ Watt graded hire but he didn't "fit" their defense.

How is Mo Claiborne "BPA" When they traded up to get him? BPA would've been them sitting there waiting to draft the best player available. Not trading up to get the best player.

BPA is not purely fan stuff. There are teams every single year that go into the draft and draft the best player available.......there are some rules to it. Ravens do it all the time. Steelers do it all the time. Packers drafted Jordan Love and a running back last year despite having Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Jones. What do you mean this is "purely fan stuff"?

BPA is real in football because theres so much turnover and there's no guaranteed contracts which makes it easy to get from under a guy that's underperforming. TO make this like the Cowboys are the only team that does it is silly.
