Mock - Cowboys select QB

He actually reminds me a lot of Dak.

He just was untested in college, mainly playing against defenses made up of future FedEx drivers and farmers.

If you go back and watch the 2019 games, he just took off and ran whenever he wanted to or needed to. He was always the best athlete on the field (by far) in every game he played. At least when Wentz was at ND State, you could see him pick apart those unathletic FCS Secondaries.

I don't dislike Lance at all, just think he's raw. I also don't think we have the coaching to help him. McCarthy is a fraud, and Kellen Moore is all clever concepts with no feel or strategy.

The QB pick would be controversial but I like it. His draft grade is ahead of Wilson, Jones, Trask, and Fields.
I just picked Campbell in the second round yesterday. Where he gets picked might surprise some people.
Dayo is a great pick, you can't have enough pass rushers. He's ranked 10th right after Carlos Basham and just ahead of Turner and Sample who we reportedly met with.
After that I would have gone with different players but the draft is very subjective and there are no absolutes, at least for about three years.

I am totally down with drafting Lance or Fields, or Jones at 10. He's raw and competed against scrubs, but the talent is so obviously there.

If Lance goes to the right team, he could be one of the best from this draft.

I like campbell but diggs is from maryland where I'm from. His brother stefan too who stayed home to be a terp. Not sure where he came up that they played high school ball together ..

Good catch, maybe that was a mistake, I just assumed it was correct.

I would rather have his teammate Eric Stokes.

He's got the speed and might be there a little later. It's funny, Georgia isn't usually known for CBs and this year they have two.

This article is gold: :muttley:

Jerry Jones, a gambling oil man both in nature and in reality, convinces the draft room the potential reward is worth it...

The same Jerry Jones who spent months lamenting passing on Johnny Football? The same Jerry Jones who tried to trade up for Paxton Lynch? Now the answer is an FCS QB who hasn't played a down since 2019. Color me skeptical.

The Dallas Cowboys are ready to win now and it stands to reason, a healthy roster, a familiar defensive scheme, and Dak, make them contenders in 2021.

The annual "win now" refrain. A "familiar defensive scheme" with the same marginal players and several holes to fill, just more pretending that defense doesn't matter. More 38-31 losses on the horizon and 10 pages of complaining about the offense on the Zone.

dodged the bullet on Johnny Football.
We ended up making a great pick....which is what matters.

I for sure (and loudly) did not want Manziel in the 1st.

But a stunning number of “top analysts” had him ranked right near the top.
Gil Brandt had him as his top overall prospect....which was insane.

And the debates got so nasty on the CowboysZone that we finally made a tally of who wanted JM with our 1st pick (or even a trade up) and who didn’t.

There were at least 60-70 people here that wanted him badly.
I probably have that yeah and neigh list somewhere...lol
Not sure if you were one of them, but I know I wasn't.

I wasn't here yet. I was hanging out on the now-defunct scout.com forums but the debate was similar. I was on the "no to Johnny Football" train, but obviously with him being an A&M guy he had plenty of supporters. Those minutes the Cowboys were OTC felt like hours, and the battle continued to rage after Martin was picked. :muttley:
