im confused what makes anyone think this front office would spend all this new found money on big time, top shelf free agents.
they will do what they always do.
go bargin shoping at the free agent dollar store.
I agree with this, as far as Dallas changing their FA habits. Outside of Deion Sanders and Leroy Glover, I can't think of too many high profile FA pickups. Well Carr, and Leonard Davis, they come to mind. But other than that I can't think of too many splashes in FA.
What I would want is the draft picks. Miami would be an attractive suitor, they have 3 draft picks in the first 60 picks. That would be interesting.
I agree with some of the "sign Dak" crowd that even if we did have salary cap room that doesn't mean the Jones will use it wisely or use it all. I disagree with the notion that we can drastically improve the defense with just this upcoming draft. We're going to have to draft some offensive players as well, especially linemen if Collins and Tyron are done.
We'd have to hit on every single pick and every pick would have to be a starter if we tried to fix the defense in this draft. And if we take 2-3 drafts to fix the defense then the defense will be in good shape but the offense will start showing their age.
If we sign Dak to 40-44 million APY, the 2 most important players on the team are trysten Hill and Gallimore. Well McCoy too, so 3 most important players. If Hill and Gallimore step up and into quality starters then DLaw has one end and Gregory has the other. Then we can draft DBs to go along with Diggs. Our linebackers will continue to suck but we're used to that. If we can get quality starters out if McCoy, Gallimore and Hill then the defensive line is adequate, draft secondary and with an improved line and DBs the linebackers will not be exposed as bad.
So I guess if I think unemotionally I can see a way we can improve if we sign Dak. Hill, Gallimore and McCoy are the key.
I don't know if this a pro Dak post or an anti Dak post, I guess it's me thinking outloud about a positive outcome for next season.
