Amazing, Dak complainers never bring up Zeke against better competition. Zeke got paid to be elite. No one whines about him not showing up vs good defenses, only Dak. Dak as we know needs a consistent run game vs good defenses.
Zeke gets brought up as much as Jaylon and Tank, all bad contracts... its just that Daks will be another if he gets what he wants.
Thats a lot of bad money and bad contracts... the nonsense has to come to an end if this team is ever going to be relevant again.
Thats all.

Who won the playoff game when Dak and Wilson played a couple years ago?

And how about the great Zeke Elliott. Is his 935 yards and 6 TD's worth 15 million? :muttley:
Wow. You're right Daks the man. him and his 3 games played. Your right, lets pay him like a top 5 qb and then enjoy the 1 year out of every 3 that we make it to the playoffs off a lousy division. Let me ask you this since your so giddy on the win vs Russell, who won the win or go home game against Philly in 2019 when Carson Wentz had NOBODY left on his team? Pretty sad if you ask me.

fyi just a name I created back when he was drafted. I was one of the first on here to say we should not overpay for him because he hasn't been dedicated to the game since his rookie season.....talking about zeke if you don't comprehend

LOL..........Just pointing out the major flaw in your comment about Wilson and Dak. I guess I touched a nerve. :muttley:

At least Dak has the production to back it up and plays the most important position in football.

.how? The pecking order. The tail that wags the dog theory. Your seeing it now more than ever. Its only getting worse. The power the employee will want is equal to the money they think they will command. AT some point they will demand part ownership in their contract or part "GM" say so...Its a very slippery slope.

the owners agreed to it the 51-49? how is that the players fault? contracts are to be negotiated, do you just accept what you're offered?

I have been critical of NFL GM’s emphasis on QB salaries and perceived “market value.” Right now Mahomes is probably at the top of the pecking order in terms of QBs. His salary averages $45m per year. That’s too much, but at least he is the best in the game.

Let’s say you bring in a journeyman QB placeholder to pair with a draft pick as a bridge to the future. What is the journeyman QB worth?

I would argue if he can’t get you to the SB—- not much. Why pay even half of what Mahomes is being paid, if the QB can’t deliver you a championship?

I have been saying for a long time that NFL coaches were looking for a specific type of player instead of the best football player. Russell Wilson, Kyler Murray, Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Drew Brees, Baker Mayfield....none of them (and others) fit the historical QB prototype.

Now that teams are looking outside the standard cookie cutter QB they are starting to find more viable QBs.

Back to salary—-Dak may get paid $40m per year but he is no where nearly as good as Mahomes. I wouldn’t pay Dak more than $35M —-and if he wanted more than that—-I would be looking for a new QB.

Dak can get you to a SB but man, he looked very pedestrian at times, especially against better competition. It’s arguable that he’s not even a top 10QB.

I would like to have Dak playing QB for us for the next 5 years. But $40m per year is stupid money, and I hope the Cowboys dig in and don’t pay it, if that is what Dak as asking for. Flip Dak for picks and move on.
They need a positional salary cap, within the overall cap.

plenty of blame to go round on both sides. Point being, it has to change and we need a salary reset.

ONE PLAYER shouldn't be trying to dictate to ownership, the direction of the team and player moves, whether it be his or anothers. Its very bad optics.

why do they need a reset? the league continues to make money hand over foot .You can't even give me a good reason why? now they're adding games

quarterback will still be the highest and still astronomical, because their so hard to find and in high demand, you cant get around it.
like john said above, we need a POSITIONAL SALARY CAP.

that's fine, but you're still paying the qb the most, and it will be astronomical because they're hard to find and in high demand its impossible to get around it.

because one employee shouldnt take up 80% of the cap..ie We need a healthy positional salary cap.

dont mind the QB getting paid the most. Just need to have a different cap within the cap that makes sense for everyone.

as they demand/command more money, more games are required...it works both ways doesn't it?

Major league baseball will rue the day they didnt fix their cap. The NBA does it right as far as how they structure deals/cap etc. They play a ton more games too.

to be clear, THE QB should absolutely get paid the most, for various reasons we all know. I am just saying, we should have a positional salary cap hidden within the team cap. It would help teams in the long term put a better product on the field.

again, if he's deemed the most important player on the team then why not? I doubt its ever 80%, in any business there's a pecking order, supervisors, managers...etc. all their salaries get higher with each position.

The market has went up every year, I'm sure it will level off at some point... but $45m is what its looking like for top qb's looking for an extension next year.

If Dak gets signed to $40m, there are a million ways to manipulate the cap to sign a couple free agents. If not, blame Zeke's contract not Dak's.

Bottom line is if he goes elsewhere, I guess we can watch him win them a SB.

Taking Zeke with the 4th overall pick has really created a terrible domino effect for this franchise. Imagine how much better off the cowboys would be Ramsey and Henry. Both players are worth their contracts.
