Lick my wounds from what?...pretty much the entire football world believes the same thing

we drastically overpaid for a average QB coming off a season ending devastating injury
WOW, so you speak for the entire football world? or the Dak haters' troll group on this board.

and maybe, just maybe, you the troll has no clue about condition of his ankle, but Jerry and Stephen, who have team doctors, who are in touch with Dak's doctors and perhaps the other folks in the organization have spoken to these doctors and surgeons and even had opportunity to look MRIs, Xrays, etc. might, maybe just a smidgen know more about his injury than the troll you who is annoyed because his opinion just doesn't matter.

Playoffs? The bar now is the super bowl. We have paid a QB as if he were a super bowl mvp.........now he has to deliver one and anything less is a failure.
so when Allen and Jackson get new contracts and make more. when Rodgers gets his next contract, so Watson should also be held to the same standards and given Watson, Allen, Jackson and Mahomes play in the AFC, somebody is going to be very disappointed....

you sound very spiteful

We cannot rebuild the defense b/c the offense is super overpaid. These aren't the Triplets.
we should trade Martin, Get rid of Jaylon and draft a tackle in top 10 and cut ties with Smith....and then next year get rid of Zeke's bloated contract, which means we should draft a RB this year and get him ready to replace Zeke.

Dak will face so much scrutiny and he may fold under pressure of the fans answer the media . I hope he takes the team to a SB , otherwise a Wentz scenario and booing will be all over the place .
I don't see Dak as the type of QB and with his leadership ability for him to fold, however Dak trolls on this board, will over analyze every throw, ever drive, every pass, every sack, every interception, every series, every quarter, every half, every game with pages and pages of analysis on why we shouldn't pay him.

I wish we would get serious about our defense....some good FAs out there
not really. some middle of the pack folks who are looking to get over paid....would they make the defense better? maybe....would they be worth the cost? no. would fans who hated to pay for dak be happy over paying for average player? yes. most probably

We need to rebuild the defense. The offense is going to be supercharged.

On the bright side, I don't see a burning need to draft anyone on offense. Right now, I'd be cashing in Gallup and get another pick. We're going into a draft with the 10th pick in each round, and with extra picks in 3 and 4.
Tradeback the 10, cashout Gallup, and we can fill the defense fast.
1 - 1 in the 20s after tradeback of 10
2 - 2, with the extra from tradeback
3 - 3 with a trade pick for Gallup
4 - 2

We can fill out our needs on defense really fast with that draft ammo. Young quality players make for a fun team.

Signing Dak should even leave us some cap room to pick up a veteran starter or two.

Any QB worth anywhere close to that contract has to win a super bowl . It is that simple . If won’t be about throws or this or that , it is leading the cowboys to a Super Bowl .

I dont blame Dak at all for getting paid....its Jerrys fault

I would have ditched him for some picks and built my defense...Dak is no Tom brady
only Tom Brady is Tom brady. Allen isn't tom brady. brees wasn't tom brady. watson isn't tom brady. rodgers wasn't tom brady. wilson isn't tom brady....its a long list.....

I wouldn't ship off Gallup for less than a 1st.

I'd be fine with a 2022 1st and 2021 3rd.

Really hope we find a way to keep Gallup though. Love the player.

I do support trading back though. If a QB falls, I think the Patriots at #15 may be willing to throw in their second rounder if we throw them a 5th & 7th as well.

So now that we signed a gimped up average QB to a record contract....

What happens if we dont even make the playoffs.....which is very likely...Commanders have built themselves a nice Dline when Jerry wasnt looking
Trade his ***, that's what we do! Dak hasn't done squat in Big D! He played behind a great O-Line in 2016 and when the O-Line started to show wear and tear so did the Cowboy's record. It wasn't Dak who lead the Cowboys to a 13-3 record in 2016, it was the O-Line who lead the way. Dak's struggles have been mind boggling when he's up against teams with a winning record. Hopefully, we see the REAL Dak Prescott show up in 2021........ha-haaaa! I'm totally disgusted with JJ and Co for signing this greedy rat to all that cheese.................. This deal will forever go down as one of the NFL's biggest joke!

Why is it "very likely"???

Just 6 months ago many media types were predicting the Cowboys to be in the super bowl. Now they very likely won't even make the playoffs? Makes ZERO sense.

so watson and wilson have to win a superbowl after they got their large contracts. that goes for Allen, Jackson and a slew of others to come. Mahomes got the contract, but won it the year before, so he has to win one after his contract. Mayfield, few others are about to get paid. they better all win superbowls.....

its that simple. and are you also saying, no other part of this team bears any responsibility for winning a superbowl? just Dak?

Dak was a rookie in 2016. to win 13 games as a rookie....lets count how many others have done so....

Jerry makes 40M this year in Prescott jersey sales. Don't think he cares too much about winning on the field, he wins at the bank.
Exactly. Nothing will change. Nothing has changed in 25 years. Jerry will make his money, Dak will make his money and the world keeps on spinning. The only people that care about the results on the field are us. The players don't care, Dak doesn't care and Jerry certainly doesn't care. They're all rich and set for life.

We won't make the playoffs. We could barely beat the Falcons and the Giants. Our team is trash and we are just paying more money each year for the same trash players. We lose to playoff teams and we barely beat the trash teams. Our players get coddled and well paid and our owner gets more rich. On their end there is nothing to change. It's not like some light bulb is going to turn on in Jerry's mind that he decides he wants to win again. Our players are heartless and care more about their social media following than their record on the field.

People only change when they have to or they want to. Why would our players start caring about their play when the owner hasn't cared about winning in 25 years. The players are getting paid, the owner is getting paid and everyone is getting richer. From their perspective they don't need to change and why would they want to change when they can do an average job and be paid at maximum levels.

I don't know about you guys but if I could make millions of dollars and not have to be accountable for the quality of work I do, then what is motivating me to work hard?

To be fair, our defense got exposed. A lot of the talking heads saying we were Super Bowl bound expected Jaylon + LVE to dominate.

I expected LVE to do better. But I'll give all the defense a little break. Nolan clearly was a problem. And now he's gone.

Yep, and this is one of the worst defensive drafts i've seen in a long time. No DE's or DTs........ there is micah parsons and a few cbs. Good luck rebuilding the defense in this draft.
A few safety's as well, decent depth in the late 2nd - early 4th.

No real impact players outside of Parsons, true; but most impact players bust.

Me too. I was hoping a return to rookie year form. He played like an All-Pro in his first season, now he is a liability. Hopefully he rebounds.
