in that scenario...i have a slight lean to penn st lb micah parsons.
but i do like both cb's.
not to far fetched to see first 9 off the board go on offense.

Honestly I can think of a handful of defenders I'd be happy with at 10. Unless they draft Rousseau or some total reach, I'm gonna be satisfied with any top defender or either of the top two tackles. Some might call a few of them reaches that should be picked closer to 20 but you know +/- a handful of spots is just personal preference anyway.

I've cooled on Parsons personally, especially now that he's campaigning for edge rusher snaps, but hell if you take a freak like him, I can't blame ya.

Sounds good. Crazy as it may be I've come around to the TE also. Just get the best talent. We don't want another Taco. I'd love a DT or LB as well.

Gotta say, I agree with Fisher on this. I think Farley should be the preferred pick for Dallas as their CB. I have my doubts that Surtain could keep up with the speediest NFL WRs in the deep routes. It remains to be seen, of course but that contention has solid merit, imho.

Farley is the top corner on my board, love for him to be there at ten but I think Denver selects him right before Dallas and they have to settle for Surtain or move back a few spots and grab Horn
I agree with you. I believe Denver will pick him before us.

TE? hell to the no. This team needs help on defense and one of the two best CBs will be there at ten. Defense needs to start making key stops and/or turnovers or Dallas ain't going nowhere. FS also needs attention. Only one football to go around and Dallas has enough receivers already, Jarwin and Schultz can man the TE position.

If Dallas had to choose today, he believes their top CB and indeed top defender is Caleb Farley.

Ticks a number of boxes for a Jerry pick. Experience at QB and WR. Lots of speed. Limited time playing time at position, so lots of projected room to grow.

But Surtain ticks a huge box for Jerry - he's only 20. About a year and a half younger than Farley. Jerry loves to get them young so they're in their prime through their second contract.

I think they're our likely picks if we don't trade back. I'd trade back. I don't pick a DB that early unless they're a physical freak.

He’s been reading this board too much.

Honestly, I think that he gets his opinions from CZ.

Hmm, idk. The Fan Zone is full of the type of people he mocks, and the Draft Zone conversations about the draft class aren't dissimilar from most other draft forums and channels right now.

People used to say this at the old site. I think the truth is, there's just only ever so many ways to interpret the Cowboys, and we all share ideas so fast in one way or another that similar conversations end up occuring all over the place.

Farley is not a solid tackler. He also played against inferior talent compared to Surtain III.

Frankly, I have looked at quite a few drafts and there is a growing consensus Pitts drops to 10. Some say Dallas passes, Others don't.

My belief is it comes down to three players.

Slater - the reup of Smith perhaps dismisses this idea. Although Slater can play guard, and that is intriguing.
Surtain III - his foot speed is still a mystery. But he seems to latch onto the receiver and follow him all over the field.
Pitts - If this kid falls to Dallas (I think Philly will take him) this is the pick.

Reasoning:

Pitts is a premiere player at a position which challenges the linebackers and safeties. I'm not certain they can handle him.
There will still be 10 draft picks to be used on defense.
Dallas has freed up enough money to sign a couple of defenders in FA.

Just my opinion.

He cites Farley's speed and length and Diggs' lack of burner speed as big reasons why.

Cowboy NY's been preaching this to any that will listen.........lol

I think everything you said makes sense and could be the reality of the Dallas front office right now.

Regarding Slater, in my opinion Tyron's restructure doesn't tell us much. There's lots of optimism since he finally got his big surgery and recovered from it but I'll believe it when I see it. Dallas wins the March Hype Bowl every year.

You can play Slater at guard and he's got top 5 potential inside because the only thing keeping him behind Sewell on a lot of boards is his lack of premiere length, which isn't as necessary inside.

Something Fish kind of said, and it's something I personally agree with, is that some guys are going to probowls and you know it so you can't go wrong with them. I put Slater in that category. I think he's got several probowls in him and I think you've got every right to be happy with a 10th overall pick that turns into a multi probowl offensive linemen.
