Is it funny to anyone else that as bad as the Cowboys defense always is....even in a historically bad year....teams still manage to want their players? Even the rest of the league knows these coaches have sucked in developing this guys.

He's right though. Feel however you want about Awuzie.....he was our 2nd best corner on this team last year. Some would argue even our best. Now he was still a need because I would've had him play slot this year but corner looks even more depressing now. Gonna need a vet.
He wasn't a slot corner. We have Anthony Brown who I liked better than Chido anyways and especially once we hear Chidos $numbers.

Thats why when they sell us on the team they always say we have the talent, but they never say we have the coaching. It's whats held us back for 25+yrs.

What do you mean he wasn't a slot? Chido played plenty of slot in college. And man I Don't know what you saw in AB to think he's better than Chido.......there's a reason why he came back on the deal he did and didn't get much interest outside of here. But I don't fault him like I said I think he's a result of poor coaching too.

I agree. Year in and year out we keep asking our personnel to win in spite of coaching. The Dynasty Cowboys couldn't do it with Barry Switzer his first year how in the hell is this bunch ever going to do it? Sigh....I really hope Quinn works here but I wish they'd get some fresh new blood in here on that side of the ball.

Always negative, all the time, every thread, every post, every day. It’s what y’all haters do. How do you know what the FO thinks of Woods?

You really have to stop calling people haters should they have an opinion that differs from your own.

Yup.

Thats two.

If they get lucky, they will add two from the draft, more likely one.

Thats three.

Opposing coaches will scheme to pick apart the other scrubs they run out there.

Its been a top heavy roster that can't withstand injuries for quite some time.

I've seen the movie. The middle parts don't change.

Neither will the ending.
Brown is not a scrub
Brown, Diggs and a rookie will be the top 3
We will add another vet or rookie I imagine too

Interesting premature reaction going on here......all because a couple fan/poster favorites have signed with other teams. Some are already calling our free agency a failure and that's nonsense, especially this early. Recall last year damn near every poster/fan begged Stephen to sign Everett Griffin for weeks and he finally did we know how that turned out. Look, I understand some have their free-agent pet cats but there are still a lot of damn GOOD/QUALITY players still out there. Just me, but it's waaaaay to early pull out the we-are-not-helping the defense card.

Sadly we also all know how last season's free agent class for Dallas turned out so not a good reference.

This is why you cannot build a team on the draft alone. Chido was a 2nd round pick. He played his rookie contract and left. In that time, the Cowboys could not draft enough players to build a championship team. With the Cowboys philosophy the would have to draft 3 or 4 starters every year with 1 or more being pro-bowl caliber. That is impossible for any team.

I liked Awuzie more than Lewis or Brown. Chido wasn't great but you can't have a great player at every position. He was good enough. They have not released the terms of his agreement so I can't say whether the Cowboys should have matched but Lewis, Awuzie and Brown, I think Awuzie was the best. Brown looked horrible at the end of 2020. And Lewis looked lost most of the season.

Easily one of the better people in pro sports, wish his play was just as good.

Know what?

I forgot about Brown, and although that says plenty.....I agree he is good enough for what they ask of him.

However if he is asked to be CB2 we are in trouble.

Sad day.

The challenge for this front office is they are likely looking for players that are willing to sign a 1 or 2 yr deal. Probably between 5-8 mil per. Not a lot of guaranteed money. If those are the parameters it makes finding good players difficult. Damn near impossible. Hence we get what we get..

This is such a dumb take, and you're not alone. He is a starting-caliber CB.

CB is the greatest measuring stick of how little football other than the Cowboys people on this board watch.
It's not a dumb take that this dude was expected to be a good starter and wasn't. That's reality.

Without disrespect to the rest, that first paragraph really nailed it.

Nice post.
