Lack of big FA Spending

Per usual when people think about spending in free Agency they often discount dollars we spend on our own guys. This year it was Dak securing the bag.

While this team has underachieved for numerous reasons... Not routinely buying other teams' players at market price isn't it.

You need a mix of all of this, being penny pinchers in FA doesn't get you Super Bowls either when you have glaring holes.

Smith, Collins, Martin, Dak, Jarwin, Hill, and all the other multi game injuries back
Gregory will actually have an offseason and training camp

2019 saw the following teams as big spenders in free agency and their spending rank:

Washington #10
Buffalo #9
Tampa Bay #8
Tennessee #7


In 2020 they ALL made the playoffs....just saying Gil.

No one is asking for the Cowboys to spend over $100MM in FA.

I mean people were asking to spend $20MM on Tomlinson, for example, hardly breaking the bank in FA.

And of course, there is the extreme opposite of what Gil is saying............. which is not really spend anything in FA, which is what Dallas does. And it hasn't worked at all. Look over the FA list we've signed in the last 5-6 years. It's comical.

i agree the overreactions this early are radicicolous, lets see the final roster and let them lay 4 games or so, we knew then last year hw things were going turn out and it just kept getting worse..barring injury to the likes of 2020, we are a much improved roster over the one that played last year..

FA is for when you have a couple glaring holes in your contending roster. Cowboys are not contender status at this point. They havent drafted well enough.

....you don't ignore FA just because you sucked at drafting. You still go in on FA and try to get better at drafting.

There is a good chance they are top 3 in offense. That will shut a lot of people up.

If they actually play with a lead and not including new additions, the defense will be better.

That's definitely true.

Do you think the FO understands this or do you think they simply think they are better than they are?

Dallas has spent more on Free Agency than any other team so far this offseason....by far.

It just almost all went to Dak
