This is a guy that I’ve liked since the start of the pre-draft process. He’s got good size for a 3T and is a real athlete at DT. Also, I like Iowa players. They’re tough, hard nosed, no-nonsense guys who are usually smart and well coached. Iowa has a good program there and they do a good job with their strength and conditioning. Their players typically perform well at the next level.

Daviyon Nixon:

6031, 313 lbs.

4.90 forty

4.70 shuttle

28.5" vertical

8' 10" broad jump

7.68 three-cone

Some comparisons to recent DT’s.

Leonard Williams:

A’Shawn Robinson:

He has been my DT1 since January. If Dallas could get him at 44 I’d be thrilled. He isn’t just a good athlete... he is a very smart football player that understands the game and is still getting better.

Big 10 defensive player of the year and showed up in every game this season. One of my favorite players at a position that I’d like to draft.

To compare to other players, just go here and type in the players name in the search:

I favor Barmore for production (8 sacks, including 6 in last 6 games, 9.5 tackles for loss) compared to six sacks and eight tackles for loss for Nixon, but if Barmore goes in the first and Nixon lasts until our pick in the second, I'd gladly take him as a consolation prize.

I think Barmore, who started off the season coming off a preseason injury, is the better player, but it may not turn out that way.

Those numbers are fine but it's not like they're special...especially the shuttle and 3 cone.

He tested our worse than Maliek Collins, for instance. Collins was 2 lbs lighter but also an inch shorter with a better vertical (29.5), broad (109"), shuttle (4.53) and 3 cone (7.53).

Dixon, I think, would be smart to lose 10 lbs and be a penetrating DT. He's not big enough to be a space eater and with a good 10-yard, he should be able to shoot gaps. That 10 lbs would also change his explosion a bit.

I am for anything that improves the middle of the D Line. I don't feel like we have moved the needle at all with what they have done so far. I would not mind to two of the ten picks here.

Nah, if his numbers were special, he’d be in line for our 10th pick... not second round. They’re still pretty good though. In the neighborhood of the other guys listed and some of those players went very early.

Numbers aside though, I like the way he plays and he’s a smart guy. I really like him as a player... and like I said in the OP, I like Iowa players.

All in all, I’d be really happy with him at 44. He might not make it though.

But Urban has a PFT grade of 82.7 against the run, I heard it here first!

I like him but don’t see him much different than Collins. He’s a penetrating 3 tech type that I don’t think will give us much against the run game.

I wouldn’t touch him until the 3rd.

I love Nixon too as he’s quick twitch. Having said that they have put out a two and a three at that position in consecutive years. I’m all for it, but the brass will think we are set.

Yea I mean I like him too, I just don't think he's some great value pick at 44.

Have you ever even watched him play? What do you think he is now?

Agreed there.

I dont see the next Jones or Donald in this bunch, but there are several mid round types that would fit the bill for Dallas and what they need.

Same with OT. No studs but some capable mid round types.

This is really a crappy draft overall.
