I really dont think Quinn was in charge of player acquisition though. Just my opinion. If you look at the draft capital spent during the Quinn years its not defense heavy. Also. He did make it to a Superbowl as a HC. So . Say what you want about his defense but it was obviously good enough to get to the dance. Until boy wonder Kyle screwed it up.Anything will be better than Nolan however I would temper the enthusiasm. Have a look at Atlanta’s defensive rankings during DQ’s time as head coach 2015-2020. Not good. Not good at all. He had good defenses in Seattle during 2013 and 2014. That was a special group though. This is typical Dallas crap of over selling coaches to distract and create false hope.

Gonna be a juggernaut like those Dan Quinn Falcons defenses.
What a disaster this offseason is.
What a disaster every offseason and season is.

Quinn is NOT some miracle worker who will excel with bad players.
This has been proven.
All this is saying is that the defense last year was too overly complicated and that they are expecting a more simplified approach with Quinn and a full offseason will net better results. There is no reason for negativity on this one, it make a lot of sense and we should be hopeful for improvement.
If this defense ends up in the 15-20 range then they will be good enough to compete most weeks and that seems pretty reasonable with 1) full offseaon 2) good draft and 3) better coaching.
Except Thomas Dimitroff bought the groceries, not Dan QuinnThe warning signs are there:
1) 'We just need the DEF to be competent because our Offence is so good'
2) We just need better effort not some complicated scheme. (Suggests players are not intelligent enough to learn or simply don't want to)
3) Quinn was in Seattle for 2 seasons and inherited that DEF that was successful. Was it the coaching or the talent that made it so successful?
4) A better way to judge him would be Atlanta when he got to 'buy the groceries'. It did not work out well.
I've seen several times over recent days that we just need "the 2019 defense" or "a defense in the 15-20 range" and, at best, that might win you the East.
The last 9 SB champs were top 10 in points allowed. Every Cowboys SB champ was top 10 in points allowed.
Talk about Brady and Mahomes all you like but they didn't win SBs with "a defense in the top 15-20 range" so it's kind of foolish to expect Dak to do it.
