Kiper Big Board/Position Rankings 3/30/21

The corner part is Kiper’s opinion. Zerlien has Surtain as a top 4 pick and Daniel Jeremiah has him rated 10th. Some teams will have Surtain in the top 10 while others will have him in the teens. I bet the Cowboys have Surtain in there top 8. The Cowboys will also have him ahead of Slater but I bet they have Sewell as their top pick overall. Kiper just moved Farley to the number 1 cornerback position. That makes no sense at all. I still believe 5 quarterbacks are going in the top 9 so we will get a stud at 10 no matter what.
Definitely some strange things going on with Kiper, Farley is one of them. Agree, think Sewell will be #1 on their board when finalized.

Farley the no. 1 CB? Just because of the surgery alone that should push him down the list, and add his limited playing time, no way he's the best ranked cornerback.

I guess if he has players ranked regardless of anything except measurables and whatever college experience they have, then fine, but that's not realistic, we're talking about guys who will actually have to play, not some Heisman-like rating....

Fields is the second best quarterback prospect in the draft. Somebody (Atlanta) will get the steal of the draft.
I don't really have a strong opinion either way but I doubt that in 3 years Fields will be considered the 2nd best QB from this draft. He has talent but he also has deficiencies. I think he would need to go somewhere with time to develop. A high pick probably won't allow for that which could derail his career before he has a chance.

We can only dream that he gets to 10. His fall off the top 5 players is perplexing. Chase, Waddle, Pitts, and Smith are not better prospects then Sewell.

You don't.

The BPA people just talk to talk. They can never provide examples of good teams doing that without need attached.
Top 10 pick is different then an ordinary selection, teams look to draft the best player and figure out the need later.

He plays at a highly valued position, WR is also important, but you can find one later, not an elite Tackle.

Now, if the draft doesn't fall that way, can we ditch this BPA farce? No such thing, every team has a position board based on their needs. Happens in every draft and will happen in this one. Players fall because teams pass them by addressing a need.

Few teams had Lamb on their big board outside the top 15 and many had him in the top 10. Where did he get picked? Why? Because BPA is a creation of fans, not NFL GM's.

Be a GM and go BPA and explain to your owner that you didn't fix his defense but you get a swell WR. The only ones that can go BPA have multiple needs.

The Cowboys need D players and OL, as long as they don't go skill position, they're good for BPA.

Wow.

Mel "spew what they tell you to" Kiper does it again.

Sewell maybe the #1 player in this class and he has him 8th???
Fields is more like the 4th or 5th best QB, definitely not the 2nd.
Smith is not a better WR prospect than Chase and probably not Waddle either.
Farley #1 after surgery? no
Davis the #2 LB over JOK and Collins is a big reach

Drafting for need is the fastest way to failing a draft.

Patrick Surtain and Kyle Pitts are on the board at 10. They select Surtain.

He ends up being like a Byron Jones.

Pitts goes elsewhere and ends up being a Calvin Johnson/Shannon Sharpe hybrid. The Cowboys failed that pick

Bpa with need is the way. You dont do bpa no matter what or need no matter what. You know this bruh.

And that game you just played with Surtain and Pitts was disingenuous. What if Surtain turns into Ramsey and Pitts into Noah Fant?

Then your scouts and or your coaches failed you and you find better ones

I know one thing. Black and white thinking is rarely the correct way. Tight end, like running back isnt an impactful position. People can talk about Kelce all they want but he wasnt so game changing with Alex Smith was he?

Bruh,

He was an all-pro and averaged 85 & 1100 yds with Smith those two breakout seasons.

Just say that you dont want Pitts or any offensive player for that matter

Hypothetically, what if Horn, Surtain, and Parsons are off the board? Are you going to reach for someone like Newsome because you NEED a corner?

Zeke was an all pro too and people tell me that position isnt impactful and crying for Ramsey. Well, we have a Ramsey-esque guy in Surtain and yall want to make that decision again.

And I wouldnt reach for Newsome, I'd draft JOK or Barmore.

And last question. The question that matters. Would Pitts make Dak a better qb?

The problem with the Zeke and Ramsey comparison is they were rated the same
Now Surtain is Ramsey-esque?

And drafting a player with no position and a DT you can trade back and get would be

JOK would be what they were drooling over with their Jamal Adams flirting. Only Jok is an elite athlete. Barmore is 14th on pff board. He may drop but he may go top 15. Walterfootball made his comparison Chris Jones. Id take that at 10.

But it's all good. I know this board is all in on Pitts. If they get him I wouldnt really care. Just dont cry when Dak is throwing passes behind him and the d still sucks :muttley:

Whomever we take at 10 wont change this fact

The best way to improve this defense was in free agency, and that ship has sailed

I don't put too much stock in this. I mean, this list has Cosmi listed as the second best Guard in the draft. He's not even a Guard, he's a LT. He's 6'6, 314 lbs. Angular, with excellent movement and agility. He's not a guard, at all. But whatever right?

I try to take it all with a grain of salt.
