In 1998 we had Irvin, Smith, and Aikman. We had a solid OL. Sure our superstars were aging, but they were still productive

What we needed was a DL.

We passed up on a HOF talent to take a position of need. I like Greg Ellis. He was a solid player for many years.

But we could have had Randy Moss. Think of how that could have possibly extended the careers of Aikman and Irvin.

Now, I know there were circumstances around Moss. But the lesson we should take from that is that you NEVER pass on a special talent. You should NEVER take an ok player just because you have a need at the position.
We would have won at least 1 more SB had we drafted Moss.

A TE is a great security blanket to have for any QB and Dak would have at least 2 outstanding ones. It might open up running lanes for Zeke too if they think we might throw it to Pitts. How do ya defend that? lol...This league is about running the ball and spreading out the defense to make them defend every inch of turf. It actually would help the defense too.

"I hope someone else takes him because he's way too good to pass up" is one of the stranger arguments I've seen here (and there have been some strange ones).

Personally, I just keep thinking of the trade offers that might appear if he slips to 10. I'd be thrilled if the Cowboys got him, but if they could get a mid-2nd and a 2022 1st to drop 8-10 picks, I'd find that really hard to pass up.

One thing I do worry about is fall and winter when you actually need to play rock solid D...it slows down high powered offenses. That might be a problem if we draft Pitts. Hard to pass when its below freezing and bad conditions.

If it's hard to play offense in bad conditions, why do you need rock-solid D in bad conditions?

If you’re a well-run organization then you draft for talent/value. You fill needs through FA.

You take Pitts if he’s there at 10.

I understand your logic there and without going into a rant about what constitutes well-run, we didn't fill our needs through free agency.

If we took a corner in FA, I'd still say we need one in the draft to be the future, but right now we don't have an immediate starter or future to start opposite Diggs.

I'm not advocating building a whole roster through FA, but if we signed two solid players on defense early on, then you don't feel the need to reach for defense so early.

For the deals they signed, we could have picked up Tomlinson and someone like John Johnson, then drafted a corner in round 2 and our defense would still look respectable.

I think they are desperate for defensive help and go defense in round 1 for sure. Not justifying it as the right move, just what I think will happen..

The way this guy is being hyped there is 00000.000% chance we would even have him on the board at 10

I think that's a little bit old thinking. Take GB for instance. In their last 7 home games, including the playoffs, they scored 41, 30 24, 40, 35, 32 and 26. That cold GB weather didn't seem to slow them down a bit. Also didn't keep TB from scoring 31 to win NFCCG.

He won't be there, many think he is the second best prospect behind Lawrence. Fun to talk about I guess.

Folks....this guy is NOT going to be there at 10.

If by some miracle he Cin or Mia doesn't take him....teams are going to line up to deal up to 7/8 to take him.

Its not gonna happen, and all fine....we don't need him.

Could the Jets roll with keeping Sam Darnold @ QB and select Pitts with the No. 2 pick? (Anyone recall Al Toon?).
I predict this draft will do very well in tv ratings - I'm watching that Thursday night.
No way the J-E-T-S pass on Wilson. They’d see the light from the pitchforks from the space station.

Man....you and me are thinking the same. I don't want him to be anywhere around when we pick so the decision gets made for us. Concerns and all....I don't know if I could pass him up though I'm hoping we go defense most of this draft....
Take Pitts at 10 and grab D the rest of the draft.

Not interested.
I see him as just a big WR who was put into a great position by florida's coaches. They lined him up half the time at TE just to exploit the mismatches.

I see him being a tweener in the pro's. Not excellent as a WR and not a true TE either. Exposed in the running game.

I think plenty of big WR's could do what he has if put in the same system and position.

Go ahead and tell me I am wrong.
I know opinions are attacked around here by those that don't agree.
You’re wrong. PERIOD.
