Actually the 50% is not correct.

https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2015...e-statistics-tell-us-about-the-draft-by-round

Tight ends are rarely drafted in the first round. Only nine tight ends were drafted in the first round in the last decade. Of those nine, six have had success and none have had the talent of Pitts.
I'm not saying the guy isn't talented but in Dallas offense you need a TE that can block inline, he's a slot tweener/WR. more receiver than TE and if Dallas has even a decent defense, I'd consider selecting him but not when this defense is complete trash

I don’t think a guy like Surtain would be a “reach” per se. depends on your board. But it’s reasonable to argue he is worth the 10th pick. Especially considering his good performance at his pro day.

i also feel the same with Parsons.

I’m fine with a trade down too if needed.

Pitts would not be the 4th or 5th option, Jarwin and Shultz might be but not Pitts, he is a mach up nightmare that make the other players more open. You can fill CB, FS, DL and LB with your other top 115 picks.

Not going to happen thought Pitts never makes it to 10.

He would be on Dallas.

#1 option is Elliott.
#2 option will be your 20 million dollar WR.
#3 option will be Lamb or Gallup.

Dallas has 1000 plays, half are runs. You now have 500 plays. The WRs will probably see 350 of those targets. The RBs another 50. The TEs get the remaining 100, but there are 3 of them. Pitts sees about 50 targets or an average of 3 a game.

Let's use the 10th pick in the draft on a player that will not elevate a top 5 offense to #1. When I say #1, I mean points scored, not yards.

Dallas has invested a ton of capital along the offense, it's time to invest early and often in the defense....I'd have no problem selecting Pitts if Dallas had even a decent defense, but it's completely trash and what was signed in free agency are nothing but fillers...Dallas offense requires a TE that can block, Pitts isn't that, he's a slot tweener TE/more WR who would line up in Lamb spot in this offense....late third round or after you can get a good TE in this draft.
We've discussed this over and over again.
This team improves more with Pitts and a second round defensive pick.

It wouldn't, there's not enough footballs to go round...Jarwin got a four year extension, the organization considers him the starter

It's not entirely about touches, Pitts averaged 18 yards a catch last year with 12 TD's and close to 100 catches in the last 2 years. Now take that in for a second because those yards per catch numbers are in DeSean Jackson territory, they would be in the top 2 or 3 WR numbers in the NFL, not TE numbers but WR numbers. Will he have as high in the NFL probably not but it does make you say wow.

Taking Pitts does not prevent you from going D with you other 4 top 115 picks for a CB, DL, FS, LB.

You are talking about a rare talent here.

Not going to happen though, he will be gone before us.

It would be ironic that Kiper - who picks a 1st round defensive back for Dallas in almost every draft - will miss it the year that it happens.

I have now seen two mocks where we take Moehrig at 10.

I don’t get all the reach talk with fans. If a team thinks the guy is worth the pick, he isn’t a reach. Reaches, IMO, are when a team forces taking a worse position of need over a better player that might not be a need.

That makes sense to me, don't draft a generational TE because you have Jarwin and Shultz.
We had a top 5 offense more than once, including the #1 offense, and we still couldn’t win games. We put up 38 points on the Browns, they put up 49 on us, Pitts wouldn’t help us win that game or several others. Points aren’t the problem stopping other teams from getting them is.

I think teams never think they are wrong when they take a player, but can they be wrong in their evaluation and hence a reach?

Serious question, just trying to understand your point of view.

So you think the team is going to take defense with #10, #44, #75, #99 &115?

If Kyle Pitts is there he's got to be taken....perhaps not by the Cowboys. What I see is the ability to move down a few notches while picking up an extra high draft pick, either a 2nd rounder or even next season's 1st round pick.

There will definitely be some fallout from so many teams moving up, with up to 5 QB's in the top 12-15 picks. The Cowboys could drop down to 15 and still get a CB they like.

I know the Cowboys shouldn't think about QB. However, on a rookie contract, the right guy would be a tremendous backup as well as quality trade bait in his 3rd or 4th season. He also acts as insurance in case Dak digresses due to his injuries. I hope not.

I'm disappointed in the lack of DT depth. I think this is where the Cowboys would have focused two of their top three picks if the quality had been there.
