I know there are several who toyed with the idea of taking Barmore as high as 10, but I'm starting to see him in that 40 range, where many projected him prior to the college playoffs. In McShay's most recent mock he had the Cowboys selecting him at 44, Daniel Jeremiah has had him rated in the same range. Pauline has him at 48. These are legit people in the business. It wouldn't surprise me to see not one DT taken in rd 1.

If I’ve manages to make it to 44. I would love that pick so much.

I guess people think he may slide a bit because 1T’s kind of have a history of doing so.

But I think a guy like Barmore is exactly what this defense needs so much. Would go a long way to helping improve the defense.

Look and see if they have Daviyon Nixon over Christian Barmore? ESPN is notorious for downgrading SEC players in favor of the BIG 10. ESPN with ABC has BIG 10 games and CBS has SEC games. Remember the year ESPN robbed Peyton Manning of the Heismann for Charles Woodson's with the BS story of Best Player? If it had been A BIG 10 QB they would not have done it.

He would be hard to pass up if he were sitting there at 44. IMO he’s the best 3T in the class. I know some say he takes plays off and there’s questions about his ability to defend the run. But that dude was the best defensive player on the field in the playoffs. Against a pretty good OL for the Buckeyes.

2nd round makes more sense to me...I think he's overrated, and will likely get over drafted in the 1st.

He'd be a good target with our 2nd if he does make it there though.

This isn't just ESPN.

Barmore isn't a 1T, he is a 3T

I think due to the lack of talent at the position, many of the media scouts bumped him up due to seeing him in the college playoffs.

Wasn't Wyatt Davis injured?

From what I've read this 1T 3T designation is a little less meaningful in Quinn's one gap system. The Newspaper that can't be mentioned whose first and last initials are D and N has a good article on it

Think he was injured in the 1st half. He still was the best defensive player on the field that night. And also pretty dominant against Notre Dame.

I see Barmore as a nickel, interior rusher with upside as a run defender. He didn't even start for Alabama on the early downs, which scares me due to our poor run defense.

When Quinn was hired, I read up on his scheme. The right side is just like Marinelli, although the Leo is more of a stand-up rusher, but the left side is 3-4 like personnel. Both the LE/NT two gap and a more anchors, Barmore has the size, but probably best at the 3 in his system.

That's different than what I read. Each player is responsible for a gap and he brings an extra man into the box probably Neal to stop the run. Also that's his base defense but like everybody else the down and distance can change that.

I think he’s going to develop into a really nice starting DT. But his calling card is going to be as an up the field player that can get to the QB. What this team does at the other DT position is really the question.
