Who Is Your "X-Factor" This Season?

The X factor this year is clear to me- it’s how many guys from this year’s draft have an immediate impact. Like in 2016. We were coming off a rough 2015 season and 2016 was predicted to be another stinker. But in 2016, we went 13-3. The difference was the impact of the 2016 draft.

A great draft is THE best way to improve your team. Having some FAs hit helps too. But those are usually short term. A great draft is the lifeblood of improvement.

It’s usually hard for us fans to visualize how players from the draft, most of whom we have never seen play, can help the team. But the infusion of young talent that can immediately play well cannot be emphasized enough.

We just have to get back to our 1-3 form when Prescott went down last year.
Jerk comment. The team needs to get better to avoid another 1-3 start, not Dak. Wins and losses are a team stat in a team sport, not an individual stat. How many times do you need to be reminded of this?

"This team truly suffered without Dak. With his return, this team has a chance to be a contender."

Yes. What a blow it was for the 1-3 Cowboys to lose their "franchise" QB and finish 5-7 without him.

Often times truth tellers appear to be jerks to complete melvins.

It is Easter so I am reminded that at the famous "Sermon on the Mount", Jesus told the people they should turn the other cheek. So I will now do just that.

I'd do that too if I had nothing.

I'll leave you with this.

1-3 - contender.

5-7 - not a contender.

Thank God he's returned and we're back in the mix again.

Quinn and Moore

Quinn for the obvious reasons of what can he do, and how can he fix the defense with the current players, the addition of the FA”s and the draft. What ever the roster is, what does he do with them.

and Moore, will he be too pass happy or can he get back to using the Run game and Zeke more.

I don’t think anyone player can be the X factor. Other than Dak, but he goes as the OL goes in a way. But still need that defense to be fixed. We seen that last season how devastating was to a depleted offense of injuries.
i agree its about utilizing of our talent and chess moves against oppositions..

Moore needs to work on making the run game more of priority not just calling the plays, Its when he calls them and what play calls he schemes..the Fullback play tree got old..

Quin has to get this team middle of the pack, that huge step from lower 5..

Elliott is the X Factor because this team still has to run the ball and not turn it over. They still have to play keep away from the other offenses.

Prescott is at his best when the run game is established and it wasn't in his first 4.5 games last season. Throwing for 370 yards a game is a good way to a losing season. He was 1-3 doing that.

The other advantage that Elliott brings is play action and not having a QB, that may just have happy feet, in a straight drop back passing game.

I don't think this defense can be fixed in one offseason. So our real x factor will be lady luck. If we're talking about winning it all this year, we need luck on our side. Period!

A Cinderella season.

Dak. Not even kidding. Recovering from a major surgery and signed an even bigger contract. A lot to live up to.
Almost half our starters are coming of season ending injuries.

Who is the one guy who could change the outlook of our season?

For me it's Vander Esch, he showed how good he could be in his rookie season and having a true MLB thumper on the squad would be huge. A healthy LVE is the most important part of this defense to me.

So what say you?
The problem is LVE’s best year was at the Will. He’s an athletic, run around, coverage backer who can support the run big time. I’m not convinced the move made last year to MLB is in his or the team’s best interest. In my opinion, if we signed or drafted a true MLB, along with improved DL play, then our LB’s would shine.

I’d love to get Jamin Davis, Nick Bolton, Dylan Moses, or Cameron McGrone for the middle of our defense.

With Dak’s extension, you are in for another long stretch of misery, my friend. Right or wrong, most of us have left that misery behind us, at least for the offseason. I know your pain as I suffered through Romo’s entire career and the prime years of Dez and our OL without winning a damn thing. But even the flashy, win nothing Romo never had to play with a defense as atrocious as 2020.

The problem I have there is MM was brought in as a win now guy, not a get us back to peak Garrett level and call it an improvement just because the bar was lowered by how bad they were last year.

The general sentiment seems to be let's be just average on defense and we will be fine.

I think that only gets us back to blown out in round two level.

I guess that can be viewed as an improvement and Jerry will definitely sell it that way, but I see it as simply getting back to where we were....while MM was brought in to take us to a higher level.

LVE I would just be happy he plays every game and plays solid.

Quinn is a good one, but he needs talent. Dak is clearly the most important as the offense will have to carry the defense.

But I am hoping we draft some defensive rookie that becomes the leader of the D and makes big plays.

Yeah. Teams always look to rookies as leaders. Another great post.

It's always the QB

But to make it fun I think the health of the offensive line. There's no reason we shouldn't score 40 a week if they can stay on the field

Like Dak?

Ouch!!

Poor little troll ran right into that one!!:yourock:

Yeah. QB isn't a completely different animal. What position is like that on D again? Who's the guy involved in every single play?
